CajunBadger 9 Posted September 23, 2023 I'm pretty much set, but curious for other's thoughts. PPR league, I have Watson, Richardson at QB, Mixon, Walker III, Gibbs, J. Cook, B-Rob at RB, Diggs, Amon-Ra, Puka, London at WR, and Kittle, Bass, BUF. Not much space on bench! I'm leaning towards giving Watson another chance. I could try to pick up Stafford off waivers tonight and drop Watson. FP-wise, Stafford has been more consistent...better floor but worse ceiling?! Just torn on what to do here. Scoring is 6pt/td, 20pt/passing yds, -3pt/INT, -1pt sack Also starting Mixon, KW III, Diggs, Amon-Ra, and Puka (Flex). Always start studs, but will a steel toe protector negatively affect Amon-Ra this week? Will Puka play (lean is yes, but...)? Keep as is, take out Amon-Ra and put Puka at WR2, and insert James Cook or Gibbs? Lol, many questions...I think stay put except just maybe drop Watson for Stafford for better consistency..but gut says don't change anything for tomorrow! Thanks! gridirongoofs 124 Posted September 23, 2023 Similar boat... have Love. Stafford and Stroud are both available and I'm considering Stroud to be honest So I'm following this post. I don't have anything to contribute.
CajunBadger 9 Posted September 23, 2023 Sounds good, I hope mine helps you as well! Yeah the Saints D is solid, but my faith in Love has grown. I'm hearing Cinci's D is not pass friendly, but wondering if that's for receivers or QBs! I too thought about Stroud given his volume of passing, but at least for our scoring, yards aren't it. Staying away from mistakes (INT's, fumbles, and sacks) is most critical along with a TD or three... Good luck!

We aren't penalized as much as your league for interceptions and there's no sack penalty.
polecatt 478 Posted September 23, 2023 I would play Stafford, he's been as reliable a starter as you can get for over a decade when he's healthy. He's healthy. Start him and forget about it
weepaws 3,193 Posted September 23, 2023 Watson, if St Brown plays I would start him , I would also try to get Gibbs in , With Montgomery not playing.
CajunBadger 9 Posted September 24, 2023 Thanks for all the responses...more food for thought!! Hahaha, so 50/50 on Stafford vs Watson! Have watched a lot of Stafford over the years playing the Packers. Thinking aloud, I do need someone at least reliable since Richardson may be hurt more than healthy. So, gamble on Watson getting better and possibly lose out on the hopefully more reliable Stafford? Or pick up Stafford knowing probably a lower ceiling, but potentially lose out on Watson (if he improves this week, which is a good match up)?? As for Amon-Ra, I'd be surprised if he doesn't play - but be unable to cut and be as explosive (which might have showed some last week). He's in...I can't sit do the what if's and go too crazy! As for Gibbs, Montgomery being out should increase his workload but is a tougher match up and not to jinx it, but like the others slightly better.
CajunBadger 9 Posted September 24, 2023 One final thought that could sway me to pick up Stafford... Our league doesn't allow waiver players to be placed directly into IR. This allows me to pick up Kyler Murray after I drop Watson, stash him on my IR, and then pick up Stafford to start this week. I think the potential benefit if Murray is healthy and productive by the end of the season makes the move a decent one, eh?

Then you pick up Stafford and play him?
CajunBadger 9 Posted September 24, 2023 Exactly... So I would get what hopefully is the reliability of Stafford and have Murray on IR until he's ready to come back. Possibly banking a better QB for the end of the season and playoffs. Otherwise I just stay uncomplicated and hope Watson does like he did in week 1 (score 20 fps) not week 2 (score 8.25 fps), lol! More I think about it, the more I'm hoping I can get Stafford (and have placed Murray in my IR)...unless anyone see something wrong!

They are lighting it up right now. Stroud is more risky but I like both players. why wouldnt you just pick em both up. Start one, and use the other as the backup? CajunBadger 9 Posted September 24, 2023 My guess would be due to the Cardinals' offense and likely not being playoff contenders? For that reason he may not be brought back this year or if so, slowly? And if he does come back, can he get back to being fantasy relevant given his injury, having fewer weapons, and new coaching staff? I would likely still pick him up since he won't immediately impact my roster at all. I can revisit it if/when he gets activated.

Ok, I've made my mind up...holding onto Watson for another week. I'll deal with this next week if he doesn't help me out today! Only bad thing is I can't really pick up Stafford this week because our bench is small and most anyone I drop would likely be picked up by another team (my 4th WR is London, 5 RB is B Robinson)..
