BunnysBastatrds 2,436 Posted November 29, 2023 …the steering wheel on the right side? Aa buddy of mine is looking at buying an old Jaguar but said he test drove it and couldn’t feel comfortable driving it here. I’ve never tried. You?
Thornton Melon 620 Posted November 29, 2023 Yeah, in Scotland in 1988, just for a few days. Very weird feeling at first, but I got used to it quickly enough. Rotaries really threw me, and there are alot of them in the UK. I couldn't imagine driving one here on the right side of the road. I would have thought it wouldn't even be legal. Went to England earlier this year for 3 weeks and had a rental the entire time. It's really not that bad but they do have some SERIOUS roundabouts in England that can make you nervous. I'm talking 4, 5 and 6 lane roundabouts. It helped having a navigator (my wife) to remind you to look right instead of left when turning/merging into traffic. But, yeah, can you even drive a car like that in the US?
jerryskids 6,790 Posted November 29, 2023 Yes, in Australia in 2002. The first time was after being up 26 hours straight and having to drive through downtown Sydney (narrow, windy streets built half a millenium ago). That was interesting. Right turns were weird because you had to cross traffic. At least it was an automatic transmission. It didn't take long to adjust, but in all four days I never got used to the wipers and the turn signal being on opposite sides. Every time I turned I turned on my wipers; that was one clean windshield!
