Walleye do love shinners and leaches. Where I fish now is mostly for trout and jig heads with a bit of a tail on there seems to get them to rise if you present it to the same fish two or three times. Love the A River Runs Through It reference.
lod001 1,344 Posted January 28, 2024 Climbed Mt. Yale when I was 16 or so. Went with experienced climbers. Yep this did happen: Lightning there had killed some hikers just a week earlier, so you don't fock around with storms high up on mountains. There is nowhere to hide. We hid under huge rocks. They were dressed for the cold. I was in shorts and was real close to hypothermia. It went from 70-80s to freezing in minutes. We never made it to the very top because of that storm. They said we didn't have time to get back down before it got dark. Saw the marmots playing in the snow near the top.

I've found many climbers to be thrill seekers with death wishes. Careful who you make friends with.

I got turned on to fly fishing, bought a Jeep, and got one of these: Colorado Atlas & Gazetteer by DeLorme Such great adventures! I had 4 wheelers and a dirt bike and one of those books for both Wyoming and Montana. Jeep is good too, but slower on the trails than a motorcycle. The really good fishing still required hiking once you reached the end of the jeep trail.

No, these were guys from Colorado who knew the trail to the top. They'd been up it before.

We had just gotten to the top of Bross after doing Democrat, Cameron and Lincoln when a storm blew in, and with nowhere to hide, we pretty much ran down the trail as lightning struck rocks not far from us. We were too high up. They just said to take cover under the big rocks.
