At what age do you plan to retire/have already retired?

The vast majority of people who took the buyout were retiring later this year anyway. So they effectively are now going to pay people a few extra months not to retire and sit at home.

So this cost us more money 🤔

Maybe. What I can tell is we had a guy planning to retire in August. He took the buyout and will now get to sit at home getting paid until Sept 30th. He will accrue Leave and the TSP matching. Meanwhile, we need to hire someone to replace him, but we can't due to the hiring freeze so...

Another guy was supposed to go next February but will also leave in Sept. So I don't know. We also need to hire someone to replace him.

I would say yes it is costing us more.

I'm really hoping I can retire by the time I'm 60.  I have 19 years of saving up left.
