**2024 PGA Championship Thread**

Recommended Posts

I realize this starts in two days. Had my daughter's wedding last week, some court proceedings, and my dad in the hospital to cope with alongside trying to get things done for work. To say I haven't had a lot of extra time for anything would be an understatement. That said, I can see a light at the end of the tunnel, so...

Golf's second major of the year with arguably its deepest field as well starts on Thursday. I have always enjoyed the PGA Championship as the actual tournament is often more compelling than both the US and British Opens, and it is the only major I have ever attended in person (on three different occasions). This year, the championship returns to Valhalla (Louisville) where Rory prevailed a decade ago. The following is my top ten predictions two days out, which means they're pretty much final.

1. Xander SchauffeleNo one knocks on the door more often. Because Scheffler and Rory are distracted (baby, divorce), I think Xander may get it done this time.

2. Collin Morikawa- If ever a player was built to win @ PGA Championship courses/set-ups, it is Morikawa. I think he'll be in the thick of it right up until the very end.

3. Scottie SchefflerEven a distracted Scottie is good enough for a top-3 finish. What a dominant year it has been for him so far.

4. Max HomaI really think Max has figured this thing out with respect to majors. I think he could win the US Open later this summer, but for now, I think he'll shine @ Valhalla, too.

5. Rory McIlroy- I know he played great last week, but personal issues (divorce) have a funny way of impeding progress in a game played mostly between the ears

6. Tommy FleetwoodTommy is a poor man's Schauffele. Consistent in majors...nearly always in the mix. With so many players not playing well right now, hard to overlook him here.

7. Tyrrell Hatton- Gotta put a LIV guy in the top ten and why not Hatton who can score like few others in the professional game. PGA is the scorer's major.

8. Ludvig Aberg- Always concerns me when a guy withdraws from the previous tournament, but Aberg's game is going to have him in my top ten lists for years to come.

9. Byeong Hun-An- A top-ten machine this season, An is a guy to watch on the weekend if he can get off to a good start.

10. Taylor Moore- Every major needs a dark horse. We'll go with Moore this time around.

Morikawa definitely fits many places with his irons.  But his irons have been pretty bad.  Hes relied on his chipping and putting much of the year.  Either his irons return and hes ready to go.  Or his usual iffy short game comss back and he misses the cut.

He has had plenty of those and choked them all away

No doubt. Those chickens are far from hatched.

First hole as a father, Scottie holes out for Eagle.   Feels like the guy has made a deal with the devil or something

Well, for once, Ed can't make fun of my predictions too much.

I don't think Valhalla will host another PGA anytime soon. No one wants to see -21 as the winning score at a major.

They were done before this.  Bought out by a private investment group.   The talk was they were done already before this ending and the popo incident.
