Timeline discussion

Recommended Posts

Safe to say we need to have some set dates for certain things for the league, the following is what I came up with to get the conversation started.  I would also like everyone to PM me their cell so I can text them reminders of the major events.  I will never call you, just text.  I hate talking on the phone.

July 1st - deadline for committing to the league via payment.  If we need to replace an owner, that would give us roughly a month to do so.

July 15th - deadline for rosters getting trimmed to 25 in preperation of the darft.

August 1st  - Start of Draft ( I think we need to clean up some rules concerning the draft too)

*edit - I fugred out my password now I can post from work  :ninja:

The above is fine, I just see no need to separate Committing & Paying

July 15 to trim roster to 25

August 1 to start draft

commish to add to league calendar on mfl  - There already is a League Calendar ( you can add this to your home page under My Franchise/Home Page Modules)

Not that I am dodging responsibility here, but August is a busy work month and I cannot guarantee being able to do the above.  Honestly, I want this as cut & dry as possible.   I am all for a 24 hour timer, no time/day restrictions.  Pick is skipped if you miss it.  24 hours is plenty of time, and people should know/learn to to pre-draft if they think they might be away from a computer for their pick.

Much appreciated!  I will text you to confirm which will also give you my number.

Thank you

Thanks for the input!  Lets keep this discussion active peeps.

I like skipping the pick in principal.  My argument against it is that if the owner is truly MIA or quits, it makes it that much harder to get someone new to take the team.  Outside of that consideration, I am all for skipping the pick.

I would be in favor of only having the clock run during common hours and stop over nights and weekends personally.  I think that can be configured in MFL so the commish is not having to start/stop the clock manually.  I don't think it impacts me a ton either way, but if there was a time I was going to be out of cell range it would be over a weekend camping.  I am fine with the 24/7 clock but its just not my personal preference.

August 1 to start draft

This is also just personal preference, but I would prefer if we formalized the draft day as something like "The first Monday in August" as opposed to August 1st.  Again, just a consideration for the weekend and people more likely to be gone or have less availability.  I dont know that it is ideal if Aug 1 falls on a Sat or Sun to start the draft then.

8 hour timer only works if nights and weekends are paused for longer.

I prefer a 12 hour draft timer with pausing only midnight to 6 and no additional weekend pausing.

I also think if someone has vacation planned far enough in advance then the start date can be moved with a 3/4 majority.

I was envisioning clock being paused at 11p est until maybe 10a est

Time difference may jack me up... I'll be in Japan the next 2 drafts.

But should still be okay.
