From what I've read of the case, the man was guilty.  He even admitted to it.

We've talked about several cases in this thread.  Which are you referring to?

The main topic.  The guy that was executed.

That standard would apply in death penalty cases.  If you're not going for the death penalty you would be held to the reasonable doubt standard.  If you can't prove it beyond all doubt don't go for the death penalty.

What he said.

That's fair, and why I'd stick with my original statement where I think this would lead to less convictions.  Worse yet, for people convicted of the worst crimes.  I believe a juror is more likely to find a person guilty based on beyond "a" reasonable doubt than beyond "all" reasonable doubt.  Just a gut feeling.

It's supposed to be more difficult to get a conviction.  That's kind of the point.  So we don't, you know, execute innocent people.

I don't want to execute an innocent person, but I MORE don't want a very dangerous person walking on the streets.

Again, it's what I think, not know, but I'm willing to go out on a limb say that over 99% of the people on death row are guilty.  I may be in the minority, but if 1 innocent person is executed, I'm ok with that if 99 violent criminals aren't walking free.

You literally cant get to beyond all doubt if we allow them to always say somebody framed them and not require any reasonable proof.

How did that purse get in your trunk sir? How did you end up selling the laptop that was stolen?

"I was framed"

Oh, well, if you say so.

Of course you can.  Is there any doubt about the guilt of Bundy or BTK?

Two guys that confessed?

I mean I confess and I was framed, are pretty similar I guess.
