Engorgeous George 2,117 Posted April 21 I worked out this morning, arms, chest, shoulders and back. I bumped the weights just a touch higher. i then went out for a paddle. I was about 2.5 miles from my launch point when the wind switched and came up hard, maybe 35 mph in a matter of minutes. At the same time a patch I had put in my kayak two years ago sprang a small leak. The waves rapidly became whitecaps substantially higher than my freeboard, maybe 2 and 1/2 times the height. I had to pull for home with frankly more than i had. I was sinking, slowly and the water was 38 degrees. With the wind and the waves had I stopped paddling to bail I may well have swamped so I just kept pulling with an ever lowering (sinking) kayak getting ever heavier from the water coming in. Damn my arms have had it. Time to redo that patch job.
