Trump’s “Big Beautiful Bill”

I provided a link to the bill and cut and pasted the passage in the bill regarding Medicaid eligibility. It's only a two-minute read and not particularly heavy lifting. I admit, it sometimes happens to me that legalese gets me lost in the weeds. I'm saying I didn't feel that problem today.

I think when people realize they aren't getting kicked off of Medicaid and things have continued on the way they have been, this won't be an issue. Places could close, granted. A business is run on the margins. If your clinic/hospital client base relies even on a little on illegals or on deadbeat work-avoiding losers, that revenue will no longer be provided and you'll have to deal with it. Hopefully it's that clinic three streets over that closes and you get their eligible people.

There's even money in the bill to fund places like that should they fall under financial hardship.

Most of the people who signed up for Medicaid were uninsured, so they will go back to being uninsured because they can't afford insurance on their own.

The goal is to get people off medicaid.  Why are you arguing that it's not gonna happen?

Do you all really think the only choices are medicaid and fully pay for your own full price insurance?

Just so everybody understands the game...

In March of 2023 the CBO released a report that said 15.5 million people would lose medicaid coverage if the pandemic era continuous coverage provisions were unwound.

Almost seems like this number could be a scare tactic.

Report in 2023 states most of those people would get ACA subsidized plans.

Yeah right, because being suspended, you still post here under aliases.  If you're talking about "honoring Mike's wish", you already proved that you won't.

Only by way of having services cut but most of those services will affect lower class.  Most middle class will be unaffected.

Let's circle back to this.  You often cite the tax brackets as being the same as the TCJA so not new tax cuts. That's always been wrong.  Tax cuts specifically for normal and lower class:

Retroactive to 2025:

- Standard deduction increased $1,500 from what was in the TCJA

- SALT increased

- Child tax credits increased.

Starting in 2026:

- 10%, 12% and 22% tax bracket thresholds increased compared to TCJA

- 12%/22% ordinary income limits increased

-  0%/15% Capitol gains income limits increased.

Every baby born in 2026 gets $1k in an account called a Trump Account

Dude. This might just be the biggest thing in the bill for anyone who has young kids.  This allows for Roth contributions into a kids account up to $5,000 per year from ages 1 to 18. Use your minor in finance and a compound interest calculator to figure out what that could mean for them by the time they get to retirement ages.

That's deductible for the parents and no capital gains ever for the kiddos.

Plus an employer can contribute $2,500/yr and yes, even the US government is handing out $1,000 bills.

I don’t know man. Gutterboy has a minor in finance and his track record here on matters of finance is notable. He told me I’m not getting anything. I’m so confused. Because my income has been pretty much the same for the last 7-8 years and I keep paying less.

Imagine giving your 18 year old a Roth account with $250,000 in it.

If they kept it, without contributing anything, to retirement 30 years later it would be worth 4.5 million.

Weaklings don't like it because it has "Trump" in the name.
