Blue city joins LA chaos as anti-ICE agitators injure officers in violent riots

Recommended Posts

2020 all over again. These liberal "protests" are pretty violent.

Texas officials vow swift accountability for property damage as nationwide unrest continues

The Austin Police Department (APD) has released mugshots of eight people who were arrested after anti-Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agitators turned violent this week.

The arrests came amid nationwide unrest that began in Los Angeles on June 7, when protests against recent ICE raids in the LA area turned violent, with agitators burning cars, throwing objects and fireworks at police, vandalizing property, blocking roads and resisting arrest throughout last weekend.

The LA riots have since bled into other major cities across the country, which are bracing for more protests and potential violence on Saturday.

After Monday's protests in Austin, Texas, APD said the department "is committed to transparency and public safety and is sharing details regarding the events, officer injuries, arrests, and preparations for the days ahead."

It was bad everywhere last night. Last night I watched Liberal rioters assault Police in Portland,  LA, Austin and Newark, NJ.

It was really bad, the Police have to sit there and take it because they're so outnumbered

Police need to exhibit more maturity and restraint than those hoping to get a rise out of them.  It is a tough, nearly thankless job.  I do remember one incident where I became very concerned the police with whom I had association were not going to fully exercise that maturity.  Obama was going to visit Denver on a campaign stop.   Multiple metro area agencies were going to be involved through an interagency cooperation agreement.  We held trainings in resisting biting on the abuse anticipated to come.  The event had one of the early tests of "designated free speech zones" near the speakers platform, within eyesight, but perhaps not within ear shot.   (BTW those did not fully stand constitutional scrutiny though other jurisdictions trierd them as well and some still do.) One morning during training several officers showed up with t-shirts which were in contravention of the attitude we were trying to instill.  The shirts read "You have to get up early if you want to beat the crowds".  In the end the event went off with remarkable restraint by officers catching a fair ration of sh1t.  The real lack of restraint came as the bills for the surrounding agencies' overtime came in to Denver and the Obama campaign.  No blows were struck but it was touch and go there for a while.

Maybe it's just me, but this whole assumption people can curse and berate police and just do so without repercussion isn't the case where I grew up.  I remember being stopped at a checkpoint for drunk drivers one Sat night/Sun morning.  I was the designated driver and had a couple drunk friends in the car.  The cop cracked to me that "since you couldn't immediately find the window button it's not looking good".  I think I used an expletive and said something along the lines of "it's not my car man" after that.  Pretty quick I realized a Mississippi city policeman in the middle of the night is probably not the person to argue with.

That was a nothing comment but we all just assumed if you popped off too much you were just asking for a good shot to the ribs or jaw and it would have been deserved.  I'm seeing way worse than I think it would have taken where I grew up to not just get arrested, but I'm sure I'd have hurt myself taking a nasty fall before the officer could have helped me into his vehicle.  These guys do stressful jobs and they don't need some idiot/drunk/loser berating them and being their punching bag.  They've shown way more restraint in LA than I think they should have.
