The spotted lanternfly (SLF) is an invasive insect that feeds on the sap of over 70 plants, including grapes, hops, and fruit trees, causing significant damage to crops and forests. It is characterized by its distinctive gray forewings with black spots and red and black hindwings. To control its spread, residents should inspect vehicles and outdoor items for egg masses (gray, clay-like) and destroy them, report sightings to local authorities, and stomp on adult insects.

They are everywhere....hitting NY hard this year. We have them in town.

We had them bad 5 years ago, then they disappeared.  I see maybe 5 a year now.

If they are the gray/black red spot ugly freaking thing I seen a bunch of dead ones around Grand Central in Manhattan but never alive ones and not on Long Island at all.
