Lantern Flies: Are you killing them when you see them?

Ahhh. I was thinking lightning bugs or fireflies - haven’t seen these lantern 🏮 bugs.

They are everywhere....hitting NY hard this year. We have them in town.

If they are the gray/black red spot ugly freaking thing I seen a bunch of dead ones around Grand Central in Manhattan but never alive ones and not on Long Island at all.
