Ceramic coated cookware…what’s the deal?

I stayed at a VRBO this weekend that had some nice ceramic coated cookware.  I’d never used any before, and I actually pretty surprised how nice it was to cook with and clean up was a breeze.  I use all cast iron and stainless right now.  What’s the catch?  Toxins?  Durability?  Rats a$$?

A class action lawsuit, Didwania, et al. v. HexClad Cookware Inc., was filed in 2023, accusing the company of misleading consumers about the safety of its cookware. 
Settlement:
HexClad agreed to a $2.5 million settlement to end the lawsuit, although they did not admit to any wrongdoing. 
Consumer Compensation:
Eligible class members who purchased specific HexClad products during the qualifying period (February 1, 2022, to March 31, 2024) can receive a cash payment based on their purchase

I didn’t know what Hexclad was so I looked it up, and no, it didn’t have and design inside of it.  It was just smooth.

That is for 2023 and 2024 products

As of 2024 they no longer have any PFAS or PFOA chemicals and use TerraBond non stick coating

They are far and away the best cookware easily available but are a bit pricey

I have learned to not skimp on cookware. One of the first things my then-fiancee and I did when we moved in together was buy a set of Royal Prestige cookware. Insanely expensive, but that was 20 years ago and the stuff is still perfect. It'll outlast both of us.

Hexclad is plenty high price for me, have a 2 qt sauce pan and a 12 inch skillet and the wok, along with all of my CIS cookware it's all I really need and all work well with my induction stove

That's what they said before and they got sued and payed out.  Listen, I'm not a quack who doesn't use plastic so I don't care but damn you are trusting a company fresh off a lawsuit for fibbing?

Ceramic cookware is great.  I have a few La Cruset pots.  It's the benefits of cast iron without having to season it.  Naturally non stick without have to worry about chemicals.

If you don't maintain it properly it scratches/erodes.  The La Cruset pots have a lifetime warranty, they replaced a 15 year old dutch oven for free.
