Liberal principal accused in ‘chilling’ plot to lure, ambush ICE agents

FIRST ON FOX: Top brass at the Department of Homeland Security told Fox News Digital the agency’s Investigations unit is now on the case of a Virginia educator and his brother accused of plotting to attack ICE, potentially with explosive rounds.

Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin said Wednesday that Kempsville High School assistant principal John Wilson Bennett and his older brother Mark Booth Bennett were overheard at a Vietnamese restaurant in Virginia Beach allegedly conspiring to go to Nevada and plan attacks on ICE agents in retribution for what they claimed to be "kidnapping" of civilians during recent immigration enforcement operations.

"It’s chilling that a human being, much less a child educator, would plot to ambush and kill ICE law enforcement officers—offering such specifics as to getting a high-caliber rifle that would pierce the law enforcements’ bullet proof vests," McLaughlin said, after Fox News Digital originally reported on the adult brothers’ arrest days ago.

This’ll be interesting to see how this turns out. Guy goes to a Vietnamese restaurant with his brother, talks about the Bad Things he would do with his gun & ammo he has at home, &!how he’d like to meet up with likeminded types. Turns out he was overheard by an off duty cop. 

Arrested at the airport where he says he was going to an F1 race with his child. Apparently he’s already on leave from his school.

This appears to be him.

If they were gonna meet co-conspirators in Vegas to get armor and weapons, why didn’t agents follow them there and get physical evidence and arrest more criminals?

Either these agents are wildly incompetent or there is something sketchy going on. Either way, if there is no physical evidence and all they have is talk at a restaurant, good luck at trial

I agree. See this over & over again with the Trump administration. If Bennett is a terrorist it’s incompetence considering they started out with a tip.

I also wonder if he brought his child with him to Vegas as his attorney claims because that seems like a weird way to conspire a terror plot.

Sure, just look at the comment I was responding to.

Dogcows raised why the Feds didn’t wait to roll up the coconspirators. Why not wait for the meeting, get surveillance on that, then identify additional plotters & additional evidence for the charges.
