Well, I mean that's one way to look at it, I guess. Another way would be, dudes a decent QB who's made better by his team as opposed to a guy who makes his team better... kinda like, I don't know.... 20 other QBs in the league. You're like my cousin... he said "LeBron is the best NBA player of all-time". When I said, "I don't know about that. I'd put Jordan, Russell, Bird, & Wilt ahead of him." His response was, "Oh, so LeBron sucks, right?" LOL, I literally granted he was probably Top 5 all-time, but because I didn't think he was the best... omg! Any ONE of those things faulter, and he's "meh". Just like 2023, just like this year, just like in Cleveland. probably a fair assessment. though there were significant injuries last year too. but it felt like the WR were rotating in and out every week or two. hard to establish any continuity. in this respect this year may have been worse than last year for injuries and they way they affect the offense. not making excuses for the guy, but this is how it feels to me. right or wrong. but as a pro, you gotta find a way to rise above that. Showboat 307 Posted 2 hours ago I suspect that injuries to Mayfield himself is affecting his performance more than injuries to the rest of the offense. I wouldn't say that "everything " around him needs to be great for him to succeed. Earlier in the season he was playing decently with a patchwork O-line and a couple of rookie WRs as his main targets. His play really only fell off after the game he was injured and there was some uncertainty that he would miss a game or two. It's really on the Bucs coaches to determine if an injured Mayfield gives the team the best chance to win (and based on what we saw from Bridgewater, he probaby does). Mayfield is certainly in the top half of NFL starters, but football is the ultimate team game where the QB probably gets too much credit when things go well and too much blame when they fall apart. jrokh 617 Posted 38 minutes ago Last Year Baker was 13th in QBR, this year he is 13th in QBR. Describes him accurately, a top 15 QB, who occasionally flirts with top 10. One could do worse, but could also be better...
