Need as much input as possible from the masses. Please read

Recommended Posts

Ok, I have three possible solutions on how to run the league this year. Please read and vote on one as soon as possible.

1.) Use yahoo and their scoring rules, thus my scoring system would be null and void. I can't find where yahoo has set up their fantasy football yet so, I don't know how their scoring works, how many teams can be in the league, how the draft works, etc.

2. Iceman has sent me an email about a site that charges $45 that sounds like a good site. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles like Sportsline, etc. but, the rules and scoring system that I have proposed would be used however we see fit.

3.I manually keep up with the league this year. Obviously, this is my (and I'm sure everyone else's ) least favorable option. Since I don't have net access at work, I'd have to do most of the league stuff in the evenings. I'm going to be taking a graduate class online and trying to sell our house, blah blah blah so my availability wouldn't be as easy if we used either option 1 or 2.

My vote is for option #2 because nothing would change. Iceman says he's used this site for a few years and has had little problems. The cost per player would be $2.75 (see I'd even round down for you f*cktools) and would be a heck of a lot easier to view and manage rosters.

If we decide to use yahoo, then we'd have to use their scoring system (I'm assuming) but it would be online and easily accessible. It's whatever you guys want to do but I need as much input as possible by Thursday (July 19) so everyone can know what scoring rules, etc.

Please vote in this thread. Give an order of preference as well.

My order:

Option #2

Option #1

Option #3

Grassy ass.

Option #2, with the caveat that we wait to see how Yahoo works before spending the money on the other site. If Yahoo lets us score the league like we want, then we use it. If not, we go with option #2. That way the scoring rules are set in stone. I'm assuming that whichever way we go, we're drafting here on the board and you'll have to enter in our rosters.

Yep, we'll be doing the draft on the board and then I'll have to input the teams. I just hope that yahoo has something up within the next few days. If they don't have the option of 1 pt per reception, then that changes things quite a bit. I would say if they don't have their site available by Thursday or Friday, then either option 2 or 3 will have to be used.

I commish my local league and run it on Yahoo! I would think that most of TB's scoring system would be able to fit in the system (there may need to be a little bit of tweaking, but I don't think a major revamping would be necessary; for example, we may have to tweak the defensive scoring, but everything else looks palatable). As far as the draft, you can do it online or offline with Yahoo.

My vote:

1, 2, 3 (in numerical order)

Not knowing the limitations or benefits of using Yahoo, I'll reserve judgment until they put their league site up again. As far as the site that I have been using goes, the 2 main benefits are that you can use any scoring system and the site is never down or slow. There just isn't enough traffic. There are no graphics and no advertisements, so load time is very fast. Like TB said, it doesn't have all of the bells and whistles, but it is very user friendly and highly functional. Let's give Yahoo another week to get their act together and go from there.

Keep your fingers crossed that they don't go pay as well.

Me too, it would avoid the hassle of having to create a paypal account or send a check for the $2.75.

Also, after looking at the League rules page

I noticed this:

Configurable Statistical Categories

Receiving:

Touchdowns

Attempts

Yardage

Does attempts = receptions? If so we are set and should use Yahoo.

If not I am not opposed to option 2. I think I can spare the $2.75

That's an odd way to phrase it, but I believe that attempts does equate to receptions.

Cool. We'll use Yahoo then. I just now got online so I'll look at the site either tonight or tomorrow night. If we can use all the same scoring rules, then we'll go with that.

That's what Mrs. Buffington told me this morning but it had nothing to do with Fantasy Football.
