manola 0 Posted September 18, 2006 I'm in a dynasty league, where my WRs have been very inconsistent, and I'm not seeing much that makes me think this will improve. I'm considering trading Westbrook for Reggie Wayne. Is this too much to give up to improve my WRs? Should I be patient and see if one of my young guys comes around? My Current WR and RB are below: Rudi Johnson Brian Westbrook Laurence Maroney Reggie Bush Jerious Norwood Michael Turner Ryan Moats Justin Fargas Antonio Bryant Randy Moss Roy Williams Greg Jennings Vincent Jackson Roddy White Mark Clayton Chris Henry Brandon Marshall Thanks! I'll answer yours!
Skol Vikes! 0 Posted September 18, 2006 From a 'this year only' perspective, I think it's an awful trade for you. Westbrook has been scoring very well. Wayne did great yesterday, but Indy HAMMERED Houston. I see the potential for Wayne to take over for Harrison, but Westbrook is already there and probably has a bit of productivity left in him. You could be right, though. In a couple of years it may pan out that Westbrook fades and Wayne takes over.. but man, it just seems like too expensive of a deal to me at this point. throttlers 0 Posted September 18, 2006 You definitely need WR help, but I think Wesdtbrook for Wayne would have to be a last resort. I'd see if you can package Westy with a young player like Jennings and see if you can get someons like Holt, C.J., Harrison. Either that or package Jennings and R.Moss and see if anyone bites. http://www.fftodayforums.com/forum/index.p...howtopic=234359
Jarvis Basnight 119 Posted September 18, 2006 You are absolutely set for the future at RB. Westbrook wouldn't kill you. I'd probably consider it too as Westbrook's knees aren't long for the NFL and Reggie Wayne is young and should be a top 10 receiver for the next few years. I would strongly consider it because you've got such a strong RB corp. It's a long season and with guys like Maroney, Norwood, Bush, and Turner you'll always have a decent #2 and one injury here or there (Dillon this week?) and you're in business. I think Roy Williams will definitely get better. He's played back to back playoff teams and both Seattle and Chicago have great defenses. And Bryant may have found a home in San Fran. Moss probably wouldn't get you anything decent in a trade right now so I'd probably just hold onto him. Maybe his value gets a little better if they make Walter the starter. I'd probably do it. manola 0 Posted September 18, 2006 Thanks for the advice Guys! Would you recommend trying to get Boldin instead of Wayne, if I can? Or, is Westbrook not enough to give up in order to get Boldin?
Querymeisters 0 Posted September 18, 2006 I would think that Westbrook should be enough to give up for Boldin, but it's a close call. I depends on how the guy's own receving and running back corps is, and just how he views Westbrook's injury potential. As for whether to make the trade, I say go for it. I think you can cover the other running back spot with Maroney-Bush (they'll probably be better plays later in the season), and you're setting yourself up nicely for coming years. wiscsports1234 0 Posted September 18, 2006 Boldin is a better alternative to Wayne, but I would still try at Fitz/CJ/Holt. Westy is too valuable this year. Or if you can package Westy and a younger WR for a veteran WR and a young RB that has alot of upside that would be good too. Thanks for answering mine
illmadden 0 Posted September 18, 2006 I don't think in any league, non-keeper or dynasty should you trade a valuable RB for a WR straight up, unless it's a top-tier WR (i.e. Smith, CJ, etc). I still believe RB's are more valuable than WR's. With that said, I love your RB core and would be willing to trade Westbrook. But I think you can sweeten the deal to your advantage. Maybe counter w/ Westbrook and Williams for Boldin and Wayne??? Those are the only two on his team that I know of, but something along those lines would work for you. doobious 0 Posted September 18, 2006 I agree with a lot of points with you guyz. I just question the durability of Westbrook. I've owned him in the past and lately he seems to never be able to be there when you need him. In the early part of the season he's great, but seems to decline by mid season. Trade him now if u can, but make sure you get someone on the upside. http://www.fftodayforums.com/forum/index.p...howtopic=234410
Aaron Brooks is my hero 0 Posted September 18, 2006 Try shooting higher than Wayne at first. I don't think that trade is so bad, because Wayne would improve your receiving corps, you've got a good stable of RBs and Westbrook has questionable durability anyway. I also think that Philly may try and get Buckhalter some looks over the season. RBs are more valuable than WRs in most standard formats and Philly as a whole looks great offensively, so let that value work for you. Start with someone like Fitz or CJ and if that doesn't work counter with Wayne.
bgard72 10 Posted September 18, 2006 I would do that trade. I think Reggie Wayne will consistently put up very good numbers. I love Maroney...he looks great. He shared the same amout of carries yesterday with Dillon. You are probably OK with using him every week...he will soon get the bulk of the carries as the season goes on. New Orleans uses Bush alot...and Turner keeps getting the ball more and more each game.
