Team needs evaluation!

Recommended Posts

12 man league. Standard scoring system. 4th position in draft. 14 rounds. (QB, RB, RB, WR, WR, TE, K, DEF)

QB - Matt Ryan, Carson Palmer

RB - Matt Forte, Ronnie Brown, Johnathon Stewart, Beanie Wells

WR - T.O., Desean Jackson, Eddie Royal, Percy Harvin, Laverneaus Coles

TE - Kevin Boss

K - Kris Brown

DEF - MIA

Currently have my lineup set as follows:

LINEUP:

QB - Matt Ryan (#45 pick, rd.4)

RB - Matt Forte (#4 pick, rd.1)

RB - Ronnie Brown (#21 pick, rd.2)

WR - Terrell Owens (#28 pick, rd.3)

WR - Desean Jackson (#69 pick, rd.6)

TE - Kevin Boss (#148 pick, rd.13)

K - Kris Brown (#165 pick, rd.14)

DEF - Miami (#100 pick, rd.9)

BENCH:

QB - Carson Palmer (#76 pick, rd.7)

RB - Johnathon Stewart (#52 pick, rd.5)

RB - Beanie Wells (#93 pick, rd.8)

WR - Eddie Royal (#117 pick, rd.10)

WR - Percy Harvin (#124 pick, rd.11)

WR - Laverneaus Coles (#141 pick, rd.12)

*Overall it went well, but I think I could use WR help.

*What do you think about my TE? I dont know what to think...does Travis Beckham change anything?

*Should I hold off to trade? I have a feeling my backup QB and RB's could explode and be good trade bait if I wait a few weeks. Plus I have always been good at spotting the up and coming WR's when no one knows of them. IE. (found Greg Jennings, Brandon Marshall, Patrick Crayton back in 07 after week2 or so and replaced my poorly drafted players with guys i found off waivers and ended up having one of the best teams that year.

(Any advice would be appreciated, ill return the favor if you post)

I think you have a very strong team - especially at WR. my only concern would be a depebdable 3rd back and TE. I guess Hightower is not available - I think it would be a nice insurance policy to have him and Wells. I would keep an eye on the waiver wire for TE and RB

I'm not in love with most of your players. Forte and Brown makes for an excellent 1-2 punch, but in Stewart and Wells you picked two backups who've had injury troubles all preseason. I think you went really early on Matt Ryan, and I don't like TO at that slot. I think he regresses to be a decent WR2 this year, and not much more than that. DeSean makes up for it somewhat. Getting Royal and Coles where you did is nuts, but unfortunately I don't think you did enough with your earlier picks to really reap the benefit of that value. Instead of having a few superstars, I see a bunch of decent to very good players. Finally, taking a defense that early in a league that only rosters 14 was a mistake. I would have preferred to see you grab your TE in round 9 and your defense in round 13, which probably would have yielded at least someone like Carlson/Keller/Z. Miller, all of whom I like much more than Boss.

TE is deep, but not sure it is Kevin Boss-deep. I like your RBs (though RBrown int he 2nd is a bit of a reach), but am more concerned about your #2 WR. I would hold off on trading for now, though. I like your QB depth, as one of those two should come through (or you can spot start them based on the opponents they face each week).

Overall, pretty solid team. I think Jonathan Stewart is going to have a phenomonal year. I also like Kevin Boss to be a top 7-8 TE this year. I would hold off on making a move yet unless you get something that really blows your doors off. You're team looks pretty good thusfar on paper and a lot of guys on your roster have potential to have great seasons.

I'm not big on Ronnie Brown, but overall good job.

I like your team.

QB - With Tony G, Matt Ryan has another weapon and Palmer isn't too shabby of a backup (I would've gone another WR in R7 though)

RB - With Cutler, defenses will give the passing game respect and can't stack the box against Forte. Ronnie Brown is definitely gonna play better after playing a season following his injury. Should get more carries with Ricky getting older. Stewart will still split carries but he still got a lil over 10 carries a game. A little gimpy right now but hope DeAngelo gets injured. Beanie wells is the darkhouse. Hopefully he passes Hightower then ur RB's are golden and you have great trade bait.

TO is TO (R3 seems a little early) but a year older. I'm a fan of Desean and think he'll have a better year with Maclin on the team. I think Royal will suffer with Orton. Coles is serviceable but not a big fan at all. Harvin will have value eventually.. not sure if you'll ever need it since he's the last one you'd play as of now

TE - Boss.. with Plax gone you would think he'd get more thrown his way. I'm not a big fan though because I think what he's done so far is what you'll get. There's gotta be someone else available

All in all, your QB, RB's are great. I think you could've drafted another WR other than TO but again, I like Desean. I'm a little suspect on ur WR's though. I think the only guy that has any upside is Desean. Hopefully you can trade a QB or a RB and for better WR's....or keep a lookout on the waiver wire. For TE, I say pick up someone else. There has to be someone better than Boss.

Really guys? I thought Boss in like round 13 was good value. Keller was taken right before my pick...but I think Boss could put up big numbers this year as Eli's go to man. Hes 6-6 - huge redzone target and we know Eli likes those.

I agree about WR...How should I try to upgrade it? Trade T.O. and one of my backup RB's for a star WR? I am keeeping Desean Jackson no matter what...

So do you think Dan Conner would be a better bet at RB than stewart and Wells? I like stewart...the injury is a toe...its gonna heal by the beginning of the season - remember - hes a backup and wont need him till a BYE...by then I think he could be scoring more TDs than Williams.

the injury to Stewart is a sore achilles. He has missed a ton of practices and has yet to play a snap in the pre season.

Im not sure why you are asking if LB Dan Connor would be a better option at RB. Sarcasm isn't necessary. I simply think your RB depth could be better to stregthen a pretty good fantasy team.

Since you only start 2 WRs I would package TO and either DeSean or Royal for an elite WR. Then you can play DeSean or Royal (whichever one you kept as your #2) and have decent #3 WRs in Coles and Harvin.

Somebody must be a TO fan???

I'd stand pat with your RBs realizing that you will need to play matchups. Gonna guess that J Stew will be your most solid #2 RB stat-wise. I'm a Dolphins fan so I hope Ronnie does well but I think he'll be about the same as last year.

Kevin Boss will be ok outside of Gates, Witten, Gonzo or Clark.

i meant the colts backup rookie, hes a conner...got him confused sorry. so do you think that I should trade wells or stewart then in a package deal?

I think the guys fun to watch an always making it in the news...but i took him simply because of production and BPA at WR...there was a quick run on WR's and QB's early. thats why i took them like i did because it became need because tiers were going fast.

I cant package desean with T.O.! i think desean could outproduce T.O. thats why im worried! maybe royal...but i also hear hes going to be looked at hard over in denver cuz of marshall. u think i could get a good WR with a proposal of Wells and Royal? What kinda WR can i get?

Good Qb's, I was targeting Palmer, but didn't get a chance to pick him. I think he is in store for a great year

Good 1 and 2 Rb's, but you got nothing after that. Stewert is hurt and I am not buying Wells hype. Cardinals will fall off this year and the RB's will be the first to nose dive.

I am not sure about your wr's also. TO is boom or bust. Desean will have to survive the Vick experiance and Royal has Orton...ouch! Harvin has great potential, but not many Rookie WR's break out. Coles...garbage IMO

All in all, I think you have a team full of potential. If they hit, you are golden, but I would keep a real close eye on your team and work some magic through the waivers wire.

Good luck!
