Advice on Starters

Recommended Posts

Wanted to get some others thoughts on starters for this week:

QB- Kevin Kolb vs. GB

or

Derek Anderson vs. St. Louis (Leaning toward Anderson)

WR- Starting Colston, need one more from the following:

Dez Bryant vs. WAS

Hakeem Nicks vs. CAR

Santana Moss vs. DAL

TJ Housmanzadeh vs. NY Jets

Defense:

NYJETS vs. BAL

or

Atlanta vs. PIT

I like Derek Anderson at STL. I believe he can return to his 07 form with Fitz and STL is a good starting matchup. I think Santana Moss will be thrown to a lot more than the rest. NYJ D/ST against BAL... it will be a very low scoring defensive game

All tough close calls.

Anderson because of the matchup (although Kolb is at home).

Moss (or Nicks), then Dez (close call among these three), with TJ a distant 4th (risky, too soon for him to get a lot of action methinks).

NYJ over ATL, another close call. I'd worry a little about that refurbished BAL offense, all those WRs they got now. Plus, PIT always seems to give up sacks and Ben is not under center. I am not sure who is taking snaps for Pitt this week (?). NYJ is going to be the easier choice most weeks, but not this week. It's close.

I go with Kolb. I think that game has shootout written all over it. The over/under is 47 1/2 for a reason.

I agree that santana is the safe choice in which he should get at least 5/60 maybe a poss TD. Plus he usually gets his in primetime vs DAL. It's a wait and see with Housh and I think Car. D is gonna be much improved this year which may give Nicks some prob.

Jets all day.

...but as said above all tough calls.

Thanks for mine.

I like Anderson vs STL, based purely on the match up.

I like ATL vs PIT on defense. I think that the Steelers are going to struggle until Big Ben comes back. Dixon isn't going to strike too much fear.

I like Kolb.. high scoring game .. GB lost CB Harris... should be a weak 2ndary....

Nicks.. Dallas has been rough on McNabb last year...

Jets.. you draft them becuz they're #1 D.. should be low scoring game...

Thanks for mine and GL!

I guess im in the minority

but I go with Kolb against GB, Philly is gonna have to score to stay in the game. Derek Anderson is still Derek Anderson.

WR's Im not really thrilled with any of them, but I would go with Nicks I suppose, best chance to score a TD imo

Defense, Again im in the minority, I go with ATL, Baltimore's offense could really explode against the Jets, and I dont buy that Revis is game 1 ready without any camp, Baltimore can capitilize on that, and while they are the no 1 defense in the NFL I agree, I think in Fantasy they arent that big play. Atlanta I think has potential of a couple of big plays against Dixon

I have to go with Kolb. As the poster above said, DA is still DA. And if they're going to do anything against the Rams, it'll be on the ground.

I think Moss over Nicks, I just see more opportunity for the air game in Washington. Housh eventually, but not Week 1.

I like the ATL pick for points. Jets could either be low scoring grind it out, with not a lot of opportunities for turn overs or sacks, or it could explode. I like your chances with ATL vs. Dixon.

Kolb is gonna go for close to 300 Yards this week and two TDs.

I like Nicks for sure in a PPR. I drafted Moss as well. Remember the one thing McNabb does well is throw the deep ball. Could be a good year for him.

Falcons is a savy play against Dixon

I think both QBs are good matchups. I'd probably go with Kolb because the Cardinals might decide to just run all over St. Louis and limit any passing attempts. If the Rams are smart they'll put 8 men in the box all day but they're so bad I'm not even sure that will help.

I'd go Hakeem Nicks for the simple reason that he's your next best wideout and unless your options are very close (I don't think they are, in this case) you play your best players, especially Week 1.

I wouldn't start ATL over NYJ against anyone this year.

Hope that helps - and thanks for your help! I have a matchup thread on this forearm.
