Blockbuster Trade forAdrian Peterson/Mike Wallace

Recommended Posts

My full roster and scoring:

QB: Romo, Fitzpatrick

WR: Wayne, Marshall, B Lloyd, Mike WilliamsTB, Roy Williams

RB: Bradshaw, Blount, Hightower, BJGE, Sproles, M Bush

25 Yards Pass = 1 Point

10 Yards Rec/Rush = 1 Point

.5 PPR

All TDs = 6 Points

I start: (1) QB; (2) RB; (2) WR; (2) WR/RB/TE Flexes; K; DEF

As you can see, I don't have any top tier studs on my team and very quickly I'm realizing this is gonna be a problem. That said, I do have a bunch of middle tier talent. With the flexibility in our roster configurations (flex spots), this is certainly helpful.

The Adrian Peterson owner in my league has offered me the following trade:

The AP owner has offered the following trade to me:

(I Give) BRANDON MARSHALL, MIKE WILLIAMS-TB, LEGARRETTE BLOUNT, AHMAD BRADSHAW

for

(I Get) ADRIAN PETERSON, MIKE WALLACE

It would leave my team with:

QB: Romo, Fitzpatrick

WR: Wallace, Wayne, Lloyd, Roy Williams (prob dropping)

RB: AP, Hightower, BJGE, Sproles, Mike Bush

and 2 guys to fill in from the waiver wire.

What do you think? Hefty offer, I know...but I'm still getting an elite player in AP and Wallace...while

The rest of HIS team is:

QB: Sanchez, McCoy, Grossman

WR: Wallace, Boldin, Meachem, Doucet, Hines Ward, Collie

RB: AP, Turner, McGahee, Snelling

He's already said he not add McGahee but he did add Doucet, but whatever.

I think you are giving up quite a bit, but I'm leaning towards you pulling the trigger. The only thing that is stopping me from saying 100% do it, is the fact that you start 2 flex spots, and you are giving up quite a bit of depth. AP is the #1 back out there, and is as consistent as they come. Wallace is proving he is an elite talent. Bradshaw is good, but there is Jacobs. I don't trust Marshall completely w/ Henne. Blount, well, 5 carries and no real 3rd down work scares me. So, with that being said, I say you should do it, but for sure watch the waiver wire to pick up that gem you can stuff in the second flex spot.

Yeah, this trade gives you a chance to win, and you can add some WR depth from the waiver wire (Nelson, Massoquoi, Armstrong). Currently you have no chance of winning, so you make the deal and keep your fingers crossed.

I think I make this trade.

Starting lineup

AP / Hightower

Wayne / Wallace

U can easily start Loyd every week, leaving you just one flex spot to fill. U have a little bit of RB depth, I am sure there are some good TE still out there such as Dickson and as Elf said, there are probably some WR out there as well. Not sure what this does for you bye weeks but I am leaning towards the trade, if he really wants this deal then make him add one more player, play up Marshall's big day.

Thanks for the reply

Thanks for the reply Dep.

I make this trade. I know you loathe giving up the depth, but you're going to need top talent to win. I think Blount is going to bust this year and Bradshaw is not getting the same splits this year as last.

Make the trade and just watch what he drops to make room. Be ready to pick up as soon as players become available, or hold out for one more player.

Strikes me as a bad trade for him...but that's not your concern. Take it and run. Good WR2 candidates always appear during the year, and since you have .5 ppr that will create even more of them to choose from. You can easily recover the depth loss with some active ww management.

On a side note, how did his QBs get so awful? Did he draft Manning?

This is one of the big reasons why drafting depth is important. If you load up on one position and your picks turn out then you have some good trade bait for more elite talent. One thing I am curious about though is if this is a dynasty keeper league? or did you just jump the gun on blount as your first pick? If not then who was your first pick? I definately pull the trigger on the trade as I see Hightower having a very quality year this year. I am going to try a similar strategy in my league where my running backs are Hightower, Tolbert, Felix Jones, Shonn Greene (why did I draft him) and Ben Tate for a bit of insurance. So pull the trigger and have fun being able to put AP in your starting rotation every week.

hell yes, make the trade.

This choice is easy. You gain two studs and can replace your "depth" via the waiver wire. Always, always take the studs!
