  1. TD and performance league

    My team

    QB-Culpepper

    RB-R. Johnson, W. McGahee, C. Benson, J. Norwood

WR-Driver, Roy Williams, Key Johsnon, D. Mason

    TE-McMichael

Kick- J. Reed (killed me this week, lost by 2 points)

    He offered a trade:

Culpepper, R. Johsnon, Key Johnson, D. Mason

    for

    McNabb, T.Barber, R. Moss, J. Wilkins

    Should I make this trade?

    Thanks

Well, the way I see this...

McNabb is quite a bit better than Culpepper.

Rudi is Quite a bit better than Tiki, however Tiki is more versatile and will get receiving yards.

I figure that the other players dont matter a whole lot. I dont think moss will have a good year at all this year due to the crappy O-Line in Oakland.

however, I see you have only one QB and no backup. based on that, I'd rather have McNabb as he is more stable and durable than Culpepper (who seems to get hurt every second season)

  2. I wouldnt waste the #1 waiver position on anyone listed there.

I'm certain that a better opportunity will present itself. I just picked up Isaac Bruce and LJ Smith on Waivers in my league.

Just hang tight. the #1 waiver spot should be reserved for when someone makes a mistake in dropping someone they shouldnt be dropping.

usually someone makes this bonehead move by week 3 or 4.

  3. Well, you wont get much for Kennison until Trent Green returns to the lineup.

Addai has just proven he has some value with his last game. I'd wait one more week to see if hes for real. At that point, you will probably get some nice offers for him. But currently, if you sold I think you'd get less than market value for him.

Bottom line: Now is not the time to be trading these guys. You can shop them around a bit, but dont pull the trigger on any deal until you see what he can do Next week. if he has a good week against Jaxonville, there are a lot of people who will line up to get him.

  4. well, Burlson wont do as much in Seattle as we thought.

I'd expect more 3 receiver sets than we've seen previously from Seattle.... but he wont get enough looks to be worth your while.

However it is worth noting, that I heard a rumour that Seattle may trade him away to get a decent O lineman to help out the running game that has suffered this season.

if that is the case, his value could go up a fair bit.

either way I agree that dropping him now may be premature. I'd at least wait a week or two to find out how he fits into the offense now that Branch is here.

  5. i have 3 wr slots and 3 wr flex spots i dont have any extra runninbacks , so i have to start wr , so who should i start

    jerricho cotchery vs. buffalo

    donte stallworth vs san fran

    roy williams vs green bay

    troy williamson vs chicago

    tj houshmanzadeh vs pit

    ernest wilford vs indy

    chris chambers vs ten

    joe horn vs ATL

    Chad johnson vs pit

i need any help i can get thanks in advance leave a link and ill help with yours

    okay here is my suggestion:

    Must start:

Chad Johnson (check injury report before inserting into lineup)

    Stallworth

    Roy Williams

    Chambers

    you should start:

Horn (steady, but against a tougher defense)

    TJ (houshmanzadeh)

Keep Wilford on the bench. right now it looks like hes the #3 guy in Jaxonville and that means he wont make a lot of catches.

  6. dont buy into the hype.

Cotchery got a 73 (I think) yard TD because the other team didnt have the presence of mind to finish off a play that should have been dead.

if you shorten that play to the spot he shoulda been tackled at, his numbers are fairly ordinary.

I fully agree he had good presence of mind to continue with the play, and My hat is off to him, but this is not a normal thing. Hes a fringe starter at best.

Horn on the other hand is a solid #2 or a so-so #1 guy. very consistant from one year to the next. I'd take him over Cotchery any day.

  7. I'd drop reggie brown.

I make it my policy to always keep 3 QB's. If things go sideways, you have an injury and a bye week come up at the same time, you may need that third QB.

Brown is not a big name, he may sit on the waiver wire until you decide you want him again.

and his first 2 weeks of production arent enough to make him a hot name on peoples lists.

  8. I have Ronnie and I wouldn't accept it. It's worth a try though. Do it if you can.

    http://www.fftodayforums.com/forum/index.p...howtopic=234919

Yeah, I was kinda thinking the same thing. However, the guy who owns him isnt a huge football fan, and tends to be a bit of a bandwagon jumper. I'm hoping Ronnies slow start will mean he'd wanna do the deal.

My goal is to upgrade my RB to a point where I have someone more reliable than Julius Jones.

I like what he brings to the table, but because he tends to get hurt somewhat and cuz parcells isnt totally keen on him, and cuz Marion Barber III gets lots of his goal line carries, I feel I should upgrade him if I can.

if you or anyone else wants to suggest other RB's who you feel may be worth my pursuit at this price (JJ and Gonzo ) feel free to let me know.

for me, I either want better production, or equal production with less risk.

  9. how reasonable do you consider this offer?

    Standard league scoring.

I picked up LJ Smith, and am thinking that I may be better off trading Gonzo to help my RB situation.

My first question is.... how likely is it that he would accept this offer? I know brown hasnt started the year as strong as he finished last season, but I still like him.

  10. Well, Leinert is a nice thought, but I gotta ask you... who would you rather start?

Lienert (never started a game in his life) or Grossman, Brees, or alex Smith?

I'd take Brees out of those guys.

if its a dynasty league I may consider grossman or Alex Smith.

Realistically, you only take the backup QB to handcuff when a decent starter is not available on waivers. In this case, I'd drop McNair and pickup Brees. He's in what's looking to be a pretty decent offense that will only get better.

  11. well, Warner will be better than Bulger, but if he gets hurt in week 5, you're literally screwed. Based on injury risk I'd say both QB's are equal.

and Reggie Wayne is a top end WR talent. Worth a LOT more than Tommy Jones, a top RB Prospect who isnt guaranteed to be the starter.

I think you're taking an awfully big gamble here.

If you had a decent backup and a good #3 QB it may be worth taking the risk, but you have a weak backup and no number 3 QB, so I wouldnt do this deal at all.

  12. well, I would drop either Bennett or Williamson....

but only if a viable replacement is available right away. If you have to wait until week 4, you may be out of luck.

it may not hurt you to wait another week to see which is the better one to drop.... but Alex Smith against Oakland looks like a pretty good option and if he has another good week, he wont be available after week 3.

I know people are still thinking that he's gonna come down to earth, but you gotta remember....

he was a #1 overall pick Just like Eli Manning, so if he has another big game, someone will jump on him for sure.

Now I'm not gonna say that he'll have a season as good as Eli did last year, but I do think 3000 yards passing isnt out of the question.

either way I'd say its not a bad call to pick him up now. at this point all you're doing is giving up a backup WR to get him.

    see mine.....

  13. okay, the problem just became more complicated.

someone just put Isaac Bruce on Waivers. but the Yahoo rules dont allow me to pick him up unless I drop a player that I didn t start in my lineup.

this means I can drop Barlow (my bye week fill-in) or Kitna, or Matt Jones to get him.

  14. I was impressed with what I saw in Rivers. I know SD didn't ask much of him but when he did throw the ball he was on target and he looked good. He knows how to run an offense and by week 5 or 6 I think he'll be putting up much better numbers. I'd keep Rivers, especially if it's a keeper league.

    I totally agree.

keep rivers. If you drop any QB, farve may be the guy (sad to say) Especially if this is a dynasty league.

  15. well, this is the sort of question where we'd probably need to see your full team to have a good idea of whether this trade would help you.

it would also help if we knew the rules (ie. scoring) of your league.

  16. Should I drop this bum Bulger?

For one of Grossman, Rivers or C.Penn?

Bulger is killing me. 1 TD in 2 games?!?

Do I stick it out with him or what?

Also, Holt is my #1 WR.

well, I wouldnt give up on bulger yet. However, if you really hate him and will get rid of him one way or another, Your better bet is to trade him if you can. Never drop a player who someone else is willing to pay for.

If someone offered me bulger, I'd trade someone for him... I just wouldnt pay full market value to get him.

  17. Hi guys,

I've got a bye week issue this coming week and I'm playing a pretty good team.

The league voted to shrink the # of roster spots to make bye week decisions tougher, and I am feeling the pain.

LT and JJ are both on bye weeks, but I have 2 backup RB's in Barlow and Bush that should be able to do an adequate job.

Gonzales is also on a bye week. LJ smith is available on waivers, and I was thinking about dropping Clayton for a week to fill the slot.

because he had a weak season last year, and a tough first 2 games against stronger than average defenses I think I may be able to pick him back up after LJ Smith has played out his bye week.

I would appreciate if anyone else has any better suggestions for my team.

  18. I'd start Taylor.

The reason hes not one of the top 10 backs in the league is due to his tendancy to get injured. Not due to his lack of talent or lack of production.

traditionally he runs the ball well against the steelers. (probably the only RB that does)

also, Cadillac has some people hurt on the O-Line. I dont know if they're back in the lineup, but that is the main reason for his poor production in week 1.

I'd start Taylor on this one occasion over cadillac.

  19. this is an interesting question.

the reason I find it to be interesting is because one of your starters is one of McNabb's receivers.

so, with the above being said.... here is the scoop:

If you feel that your team is overall better than his, you start LJ Smith for sure. Because if McNabb has a good game LJ probably will also have a good game. so starting LJ is like hedging your bets and it reduces your risk.

but if you think he has a better team than you do, then you should take a chance with Heath Miller. This way if Mcnabb has a bad night, you can still make up some ground with Miller who is more likely to outperform LJ smith if Mcnabb has a crappy day. For the record, the NY giants defense usually plays philly pretty tough, so I dont think Miller is a bad option regardless.

As for receivers, I'd go with Bryant and Matt Jones. I know Moss is the better talent, but Oakland is playing baltimore. Baltimore's front Seven is more aggressive and more nasty than that of the chargers.... so if the Chargers completely messed up Aaron Brooks passing (aprox 100 yards passing on the day), I highly doubt that he'll do any better against the ravens. even if Moss gets 60% of the throws, I still wouldnt expect more than 60-75 yards at best against this ravens defense.

I wouldnt start Reggie brown regardless of your situation.

  20. I think this last game is the first game that Alex Smith actually put up numbers that were better than Culpepper.

while I do think Smith will be a decent QB this year, I dont think he will outperform Culpepper all that often.

Play culpepper and dont give it a second thought.

  21. yep.

    Take that trade & run.

be aware, the bucs have some o-linemen that missed game 1 and may also miss game 2 and possibly 3 so Caddy may have a subpar performance against tougher run defenses the next week or two.

I still think Caddy will perform well for you over the rest of the season.
