draft discussion

Recommended Posts

So far the draft is going like any other draft this year. By the way, has anyone heard from DBF. Has he made his cuts yet?

One of the first rookie drafts I have seen JJ go earlier than #4. However, I kind of like the pick.

I already has Shipp and T. Jones and had penciled in Arrington/Shipp combo.

I really like the Benson/Jones combo over Arrington/Shipp.

Time will tell.

I like the Arrington/Shipp combo much better than the Benson/Jones combo. If Warner can stay healthy with Fitzgerald and Boldin, AZ's offense should find some room to run.

The Bears on the other hand, suck.

In RTS, Shox is still on the clock....

Guess no access at work?

I can go in and make the pick for him. He posted that he picked Cedric Benson so I'll pick him for him.

I just noticed there is a new chat feature on the draft board. It shows who has the draft page open and you can send them PM's from there. Kinda cool

I was surprised Shelton slipped to the #8 spot. I thought he'd be a top 5 pick and definetly be gone no later than 1.7.

Whatdya think? Maybe 15 Tds for him this season? <_<

Seriously though, I really didn't think I'd have a chance to get him cause I knew I wouldn't be able to trade into the top 6 picks.

Didn't really need another QB, Alex Smith is the best value on the board imo.

Yup, pretty much an instant starter unless Rattay shows something in camp.

I went with Clarett. I thought about Clayton and Fason at this point. Pretty much a wild card pick. You'll never know what Shanny does. My guess he could draft an RB next year! :headbanger:

I went with Clarett.  :

Focker

;)

I knew passing on Clarett at 1.9 was a gamble but no way I was going to take him that early. I should have tried trading out 1.9 earlier but am pretty happy with Gore.

:D Strangely, aside from Shelton, the other 2 main players (Clayton and Clarett)were still there at 1.11 when it was my turn again. But I think I might of valued them a bit more than others. I'm still a bit peeved my little gamble didn't work. It would be possible to have both players at 1.12 and 2.01. :(

I sure was hoping he would of gotten picked in the top 6-7. :D

I remember chatting with DBF about taking JJ over Benson. Didn't think he was serious. :D I really think JJ will have better numbers than Benson this year, but don't know after when Benson gets the full time job over Jones. :(

Clarett is almost a lock to have one season with 1500+ yards and 12 or more tds. After that he will fall of the map forever :wall:

Sorry for the hold up guys. Been under the weather since last weekend and didn't research like I normally would.

And thanks for the trade offers!! Had a couple of pretty decent ones but seriously needed some RB help so I felt I had to use the picks.

Good luck all!!

Two smart picks in my opinion.

Marion Barber was kind of a homer pick, but also a good one, IMO. Especially if Jones goes down again this year. :pointstosky:

I debated between him and Matt Jones and almost went with Jones, but I'm not 100% sold on him being a WR in this league. I think he'll be more of an H-back type player and I wouldn't be sure if I could start him anywhere.

Im happy to land Heath Miller I think he will be a very solid player in the league and won't make a to bad of a back up. I was also able to nail Brandon Jacobs to back up Tiki and I've heard some good things about this kid so hopefully he will pay off.

I was gonna ask you what's been said about him. I read a couple articles on him and he sounds like a can't miss prospect.

BTW, What's going on with the Walker situation?

They are takin basically the same stance as the Eagles are with Owens by not budging an inch and I'm pretty happy about it. The guy needs to play out his contract and quit biatching

Well it looks like my draft is over with for now. I ended up with a good group of guys. Ronnie Brown was the obvious choice and should be a future stud some day. I was happy to land Mark Clayton with my second pick as I believe he will be a playmaker very soon in the league. I wuz very lucky that Heath Miller fell to me. I wanted this guy but was not sure when to take him was tempted to take him over Clayton but in the end it all worked out. Miller will make a nice back up for this year and could be very productive as the second wr threat to Ward. Brandon Jacobs was nice to get to handcuff Barber and as for Roddy White im hoping this guy can blossum he was a first round pick and could be an opening day starter.

Looks like you had an excellent draft. All your picks should become productive starters and getting Jacobs as Barber's handcuff ain't bad at all.

I'm done unless I make some trades. I got Eric Shelton and thought I had no shot at him so I'm really happy with that. He's a perfect fit for the offense the Panthers run. I wouldn't be surprised if he's getting 20-30 carries a game by some point in the '06 season. I know I'm likely high on the guy 'cause I drafted him, but within the next 3 years this guy could be someone who rushes for 1350 yards and 10 TDs on a regular basis. Davis is too old and has already started breaking down. Foster is simply too injury prone and has alot to prove this year if he plans on being the featured back. I don't see it happening. The future is bright for Shelton

Took Terrence Murphy with my second and don't really know what to expect. Most of everything I've read says he has great speed and should become a playmaker in the league. We'll see.

Is it me or are rookie drafts all over the board this year?

I looked at other drafts and once you hit the end of the first, it is fairly unpredicatble.

I think so too. From the ones I 've checked out, they go everywhere after about the first 10-12 picks.

Fubars, you stole the guy I was targeting

I lost out on Reggie Brown, so I guess he's the next best WR.

Well, my draft is done.(unless I make a trade for a pick) Can't say I'm thrilled how it worked out, but I did get Clarett, Vincent Jackson and Charlie Frye. Not big by any means, but I ended up getting Mushy through trading up and down and really only giving up Losman and Gage. Good luck to all! ;)
