Mongo ate my cornbread

Recommended Posts

I'm not sure about the origin or the reasoning behind it.

When Lions fans pump up their team even though the national perspective on the team is not good, it is called eating 'cornbread'. Kind of like falsehope, except it's called cornbread.

I'm glad I live in the south! We don't have any of dem new-fangled phrases south of the mason-dixon. When I says I eat cornbread, it means get me sum dem corn biscuits!

Falsehope may even be a not-so-good word for it.

Being gullable or to look at things with horse blinders on could be added to the definition.

what did I do that ate your cornbread?

Took Roy Williams from Dan, which in turn he took Chris Perry from me.

Rodney and I are both farely strong homers. I wanted either Jones or Williams and I am sure Rodney wanted either Jones or Williams. Since they are now Lions they will suck even if Rodney or I don't think so, thus turning them into cornbread. You drafted them both, in other words, you ate our CORNBREAD!

It was fun having you two explain it to me.

It's such a weird term and I have yet to find it's origin.

If the Detroit Lions are planning on Artose Pinner as their future RB, they have more problems that they've led us to believe over the past 10 years.

Pinner was injured last year, and with the terrible backfield the Lions had, I would have drafted a RB also..
