QB Billy Volek To Start?

Recommended Posts

how can he say in the title of the article that Volek will start, but then the body of the article says they haven't yet ruled McNair out? I'd like to know because my opponent this week has Bulger and McNair, and won't be able to pick up any free agents after 7:00 pm tonight!

I would stay away from the whole thing! You know McNair will start but leave the game in the 1st quarter with 18 yards passing....Volek will then throw 2 TDs that nobody will get points for.

STAY AWAY!

The Tennessean and Jim Wyatt are very reliable but this artilce and headline don't really mesh. The fact that Volek took all of the snaps in practice this week is a pretty good indicator that he will start but Fisher has played McNair before without McNair receiving reps in practice.

Personally, it will help Jones' value....while McNair has looked to Jones often, he prefers check downs to the TEs...Volek throws the deep ball early and often...just my opinion, obviously, but I hope Billy starts

Everything should be clear by tomorrow. If Mcnair doesn't practice then you can assume Volek will get the nod.

What heppened to McNair? (The biggest pooshay in the NFL) Did he get banged up in that fender bender? Seriously, when did he get hurt? I remember reading he had back spasms before last game, but I don't remember anything other than that.

Oct. 21 NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Steve McNair's status for Sunday's game against the Arizona Cardinals remained uncertain Friday because the Tennessee Titans quarterback was held out of practice with a sore back.

It was the first time this season he did not participate in a workout Wednesday, Thursday or Friday. Back pain caused him to sit out Wednesday and he was excused for personal reasons on Thursday.

Billy Volek worked the whole week with the first-team offense.

"We haven't ruled [McNair] out for the game at this point," said coach Jeff Fisher. "He has been in this situation before. We just felt like an extra day would help. He is much better right now than he was last week."

McNair refused to address the media to discuss his health or anything else related to Sunday's game at Sun Devil Stadium in Phoenix.

Back spasms first became an issue this season on Oct. 14. He missed that day's workout but then attempted a season-high 41 passes last Sunday against Cincinnati.

He has started every game this season and has attempted 210 passes, compared to one by Volek.

"I am not concerned about Billy and his ability to be productive," Fisher said. "[McNair] is feeling better however. We just felt like an additional day of rest would be beneficial for him."

 The QB Gods are messing with me. I dropped Griese a couple of weeks ago and picked up McNair because I was tired of looking at Griese on my bench. Bulger was my starter and now this? :)

At least McNair has slight chance of starting where as Grease is done.

So you did well.

I was watching ESPN around 10pm at a friends and they said Mcnair was playing.I have Brady and Leftwich on bye and the only 3 QB "s left are Wright Dilfer And A. Smith. If Mcnair can go he will. He knows Volek could take his job at any time.

The Tennessee Titans will start backup Billy Volek on Sunday, according to the Tennesseean.

Coach Jeff Fisher said Friday that Steve McNair met with a specialist about his back this week. Fisher did not rule out McNair for Sunday's game, but Billy Volek took almost every first-team snap in practice, and is reportedly slated to start.

This was the question many championship teams were contemplating last year. I feel like I'm in a time warp.

McNair didn't even make the trip to Arizona. I think the question mark in the title of this thread can officially be removed:

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Tennessee Titans flew to Arizona on Saturday without Steve McNair because of his sore back, giving backup quarterback Billy Volek his first start this season on Sunday against Arizona.

[snip]

Coach Jeff Fisher said Friday it would be a game-time decision on whether or not the 11-year veteran would play against the Arizona Cardinals (1-4). But McNair did not travel with the Titans.

Volek starting for McNair, who doesn`t make trip to Arizona

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- The Tennessee Titans flew to Arizona without injured Steve McNair, giving backup quarterback Billy Volek his first start this season Sunday against the Cardinals.

The Titans officially downgraded McNair from questionable to out Saturday after listing him as questionable each day because of back and ankle injuries. He missed each practice, including Thursday when he was excused for personal reasons, and sat out two sessions last week.

Volek will be making his 10th start Sunday after starting eight times last season for an injured McNair.

``I`ve said this for a long time now, even though Steve is the starter, I still prepare myself like I`m the starter,`` Volek said after practice Friday. ``So, I`m just going to go out there and play my game.``

Volek threw for 2,486 yards, 18 touchdowns and 10 interceptions in 2004. He became only the fourth quarterback in NFL history to throw for at least 400 yards in consecutive games.
