I voted Cleveland.

But the Titans are also having a GREAT offseason overall. Besides adding Thornton, Givens, and Mawae, they also added S Chris Hope today, who is very good in his own right.

Also, they either refused to option expensive players (McNair & Volek I believe) or re-structured guys who have talent but under-performed last year or were overpaid (i.e. Travis Henry, Benji Olson, Peter Sirmon, and Lamont Thompson). They re-signed Vanden Bosch to a good contract. They cut the aging Brad Hopkins (rather than overpay to keep him). AND they let the Panthers get suckered into taking the WAY over-rated Justin Hartwig off their hands for top 3-4 C money...

Right now, I'd rank the offseasons:

1) Browns :o

2) Titans

3) Saints :shocking:

Not at all what I would've thought heading into the offseason...

Yeah, the Chris Hope pickup came in after I made the poll - that's a pretty good move too. Looks like the Titans are turning the corner.

I voted Cleveland, but forgetting that TEN also landed Hope, I think its pretty much a tie.

Cleveland also got Shaffer to start at LT, which while not an amazing pickup, solidifies a position of need. Bentley fills an interior line need. Rumor has them shopping Jeff Faine, which would be a mistake. Cosey Coleman should drop to back up status, and move either Faine or Bentley to OG.

They got their run stuffer in Washington, their rush end in McGinest, and positioned themselves to fill a couple needs in the draft. They still need a strong 3-4 end. Maybe thats Brodrick Bunkley at #8 in the draft.

Now they need a WR, DE, and OLB to round out their roster. Several good prospects will fall to them in the 2nd round, such as Elvis Dumerville (Louisville), Ernie Sims (FSU), and Darryl Tapp (VT), who can provide immediate impact.

MIA - and I would have said this long befor the Cupepper signing.

you forgot to list Mike Mularkey (OC) and Dom Capers (DC) to MIA's key additions.

Nick Saban really had the Dolphins playing well at the end of the year last year. With his staff bolstered and a legit QB added, MIA could really make some noise in the AFC East.

BUF and NYJ are in shambles, so don't be surprised to see MIA giving NE a run for their money.

Pretty good evaluation, but the Browns are drafting at #12.

The Browns did what every team says they're trying to do but don't: Fill positions of need through FA so they can draft the BPA. Before FA, they HAD to pick up Ngata, Greenway or Justice at the #12 spot. Now, they have legit starters are pretty much every position and just need young blood, playmakers and depth anywhere they can get them.

Also, I know I'm homer, but I think the Browns have had a better offseason than Tenn (although Tenn has clearly improved themselves). I think the talent level/leadership/experience that the Browns got (especially considering that most of them are not long term commitments) is higher than the Titans.

I'll match up the acquisitions (not just player for player skill wise, but taking into account leadership, team need, etc.):

Mawae<<<<Bentley (age/physical ability)

Givens= Vicious

Thornton>Shaffer (but close, IMO. They both fill positions of need, both young, with potential...)

Hope=McGinest and Washington (Hope provides youth/physical ability that these guys don't have, but the influence these two will have in the locker room is HUGE, and they're still BIG upgrades over last years talent).

Oakland.

Cut Collins (Saved $12.9m in cap)

Saved $9.5 million off the cap on Monday by restructuring other players, WITHOUT cutting anyone.

SAVED $22.4 million AND got rid of Kerry Collins

I repeat we got rid of Collins !!!

i would assume you're talking about the entire offseason and not just free agency?

if so, the lions canning mooch/jauron/tollner and replacing them with marinelli/martz/henderson is a pretty good upgrade.

the free agent moves so far haven't been sublime, but they're moves that will allow a fresh start in detroit.

I choose "Other", namely the previously bottom-feeding defense which has now added Witherspoon, Glover, and Chavous...and I don't think they're done yet!

I see no improvement in the staff :ninja:

And as long as Millen is there, the staff grade is an F.

I really like what the Titans have done so far. All Jeff Fisher needs is an infusion of talent to get that team to be competitive again.

i am sorry but the saints have had the best move in the market so far... and its regarding the most important position on the field.. so they get my vote and i am not a saints fan...

all other teams have had decent upgrades and signings, but SD letting brees go is the worst move so far and saints signing him is the best move so far... its amazing how a franchise qb can make a whole team turn around. (if healthy that is.)

I would definitely say Miami and New Orleans. Getting franchise QBs when you don't have one is a very hard thing to do. Yet both teams pulled it off.

I think Minnesota, Washington and Cleveland are the classic overspenders, and will regret choosing to spend so much money for non impact type players.

I'll throw a vote in for the Niners for not trying to overspend for anyone. WE got the players in the positions we needed and for the right prices.

You want to talk about Thompson as a GM being an unknown yet are claiming upgrade because of a 1st time head coach?

If Brees comes back from that injury....
