bammbamm 0 Posted March 23, 2006 I just threw up in my mouth a little... the only QB worth anything was Kerry Collins and there is no way he would come in to backup Brad Johnson. At this point in time I dont know who else they could have gotten; maybe Harrington but his psyche has to be shot at this point. He will be fine as long as he doesnt see the field of play. Vikings4ever 550 Posted March 23, 2006 I just threw up in my mouth a little... Decent backup who knows the offense. I'll be happy if he never sees the field, though.

Guest Black Label Society Posted March 23, 2006 Call me crazy, but I actually like this signing. He played a couple of games for Detroit a few years back and the guys a gamer. Plays his heart out. May not be the best pocket passer, but he never seems to give up and I like that attitude on a football field.
darwin 0 Posted March 23, 2006 I like it too. He may end up 3rd string anyways if a QB falls to them. He's cheap, and he knows the upcoming offense scheme better than Johnson or anyone else. In fact, he'll be the only one that does. And with the MN O-line, it doesn't matter if he's a stud. Just so he plays smart and manages the game.
mozzy84 0 Posted March 23, 2006 Man I think you guys are nuts, this guy can't hit the broadside of a barn, he has a terrible arm. I would've rather had Anthony Wright than McMahon. Everytime I have seen this guy he looks like he running around with his head cut off. Like the other poster said hopefully he never sees the field or they find another guy the be the second string. Sho Nuff 720 Posted March 23, 2006 I liked him a few years ago in Detroit...but he never really developed. Not a bad signing given he is familiar with Childress' system.

Harrington is still a Lion at this point until his release. I think the Lions are hoping to get anything in trade.
Darb33 0 Posted March 23, 2006 Not a great move considering he will be starting by week 5 when Johnson is hurt.
Voltaire 5,314 Posted March 25, 2006 He's one of the last sucky QBs to go through Detroit. I like him, wish he had a better chance to compete. He's twice the QB Harringtons aspires to be. Seriously. We should have never let him walk without giving him a shot.
yostevo 0 Posted March 25, 2006 McMahon is a gamer but he's just not accurate enough to be an NFL starting Qb. It's plausible to think he could come into a single game and rally the troops to a victory with his feet and inspired play, but Minny's ship will sink (I.E. Philly's last year) if they need to rely on him for any stretch of time. I wouldn't be all that confident in this QB situation.
Captian America 0 Posted March 25, 2006 Good pick up.
49ER MAN 0 Posted March 25, 2006 Mcmahon does know the system as he was an Eagle when Childress was the offensive coordinator. He's got great mobility but horrible accuracy.
yojimbo81 0 Posted March 25, 2006 Vikings fans around the country better hope Brad Johnson doesn't get injured. Mike McMahon is a product of what one fantasy magazine referred to as the "crap factory that is Rutgers". He stunk on the Lions and Eagles and he'll stink for the Vikings. LunaTick 30 Posted March 26, 2006 IMO I think the Vikes are looking at signing a releaed harington as a future project along with drafting someone. drafted talent is a project for starting in 2008. Harrington would be the gap and hedge filler that is, with who is left, i would expect. ON THE COLLINS TIP: i ave stated before that guy has no charisma, no leadership, no shoulders, and while talented, is diseased. his disease is mediocrity. Harrington, imo, waslocal talent forced in by MM and then forcd upn mariucci by millento be the starter. this versus earning the spot. not being drafted into it. agan, it would be a flyer project for the after.
