nobody 2,665 Posted April 14, 2006 I ran a fantasy football league before there was a newspaper. I had to watch every game and count the stats myself. I acutally started before football was even invented. I had to play all the games and then record the stats. I always won.

IAMWood 6 Posted April 14, 2006 1990, I think I had Jim Everett and Flipper Anderson, I owned it with a buddy, but I couldn't make the draft. We got all guys who had good years the year before and sucked that year. Got killed. TD only league, double points for player doing something not his forte, ex. RB catching a TD. Stats weren't really known or official until Tuesday morning USA Today. Couldn't wait for Tuesday morn. SportsCenter was helpful but not near as many highlights or any complete info. Let Da Big Dog Eat 40 Posted April 14, 2006 Since 1994. Back in those days, live scoring came from the ticker at the bottom of the screen and half time updates/highlights. Since Da Commish was official scoring (not available until late Tuesday), Monday am paper sports section was at a huge premium at work. Amazing how far we have come. Phurfur 70 Posted April 15, 2006 My first year was 1996 I was asked 1 week before the draft. My first pick was Jeff Blake in a TD only league. My secong pick was Jerome Bettis in his first year with Pitt. I think I finished 4th or 5th in a 12 man league.
bjlmonster 0 Posted April 15, 2006 Started trying to take over my dad's teams in the late 80's. Started myself in 1994 with a midseason draft (week 8). Just some college buddies who wanted to give it a try. Took Terrell Davis with the 6th pick and kept him through his glory years.

Datathief 0 Posted April 16, 2006 I've been playing on the internet for about 10 years. Was playing simuliar numbers based fantasy games in different forms for about 20 years. No question that the internet revolutionized fantasy football into what we play today. I have a hard time calling anything else fantasy football now. I wasnt in the first group of people to utilize the internet to play FF but by the time it really took off in popularity, I had joined the growing crowd.
