Portis26 0 Posted April 17, 2006 As a Golden Domer supporter, and a Dallas hater - I'm torn on this guy. I think JJ is a very good RB and with Marion Barbour III also there, it helps him stay healthy, by lessing the load. From a fantasy perspective, it svcks monkey nuts to hear this kind of stuff
Ilov80s 0 Posted April 17, 2006 JJones is a very average NFL back with obvious durability concerns. 2 seasons and 2 injuries. If I am going to take a risk on a RB with this kind of durability issues, its going to be Caddy.
Mack 1 6 Posted April 17, 2006 Some of the visits NFL teams schedule with prospective players are done as a ploy in an attempt to not show their true intentions come draft day. There are countless stories of players being taken in the first round by teams they never visited, so I wouldn't read too much into this LenDale White-potentially-to-Dallas stuff. Pokey55 0 Posted April 17, 2006 I wouldn't read too much into it either; I really doubt we'd take a RB with our first round pick. I think it's just looking to see what's available. Having said that, I think this is a make or break year for Julius. If he doesn't get through all 16 games, he's gonna get tagged "fragile". I think he can be very good and I like having Marion Barber III there to take some of the load, but Julius has to step it up.
mggoilers 0 Posted April 17, 2006 So if you were the Cowboys, would you deal a 2nd/3rd rounder to the Colts for Julius Jones. Colts 2nd rounder is late. Jones has worked on his pass blocking, and is more than able. Also, his best running plays are in single back sets on delay draws, toss plays, and potentially stretch plays. he would be a good fit in Indy, but hey it's just speculation. You must have alzheimers.........................THat s all i can reply... Why would they need White aniways, if they dont like Jones they have Barber and i dont see where White would be a upgrade on BArber. If i were the Colts i would look to trade for Barber, he would be better then any back they coud get in the draft besides Bush.
Deadpool 0 Posted April 17, 2006 I agree with this being a make or break year for Julius. This will probably be his last chance to be the everday starter in Dallas. He has to show that he can handle the load. The Dallas coaching staff loves Barber and his work ethic, but I would not be surprised if they drafted another RB. However, I cannot see them using a 1st round pick on a RB. There are greater needs at S, LB, and OL than RB. I am estimating that Dallas will take a RB in the 3rd round or later. And yes, you also have to remember that there is alot of subterfudge going on now with teams visiting with players. Other teams do try to convince other teams of thinking they are interested in a player to mask who they really want. Sounds silly, but it happens.

This guy has too much pride to let himself be anything less than a top back in the NFL because it's obvious this guy as the talent to be a star in the NFL. Julius will be a monster you can bank on it.

Pokey55 0 Posted April 17, 2006 I think Julius has the potential to be a very good, potentially one of the best in the league, back. However, he's got to prove he can play a full season. I don't think he can be considered with the best if he's constantly missing 3-5 games a season. The first season was kind of a freak injury admittedly, but he's got to prove his toughness. sanders 0 Posted April 17, 2006 I think Jones has already shown that he he is way more than an average NFL back. An average NFL back when healthy the whole season and on an average (middle of the pack) team will put up average numbers - about 900-1000 yards and 6-8 TDs. Now consider Julius healthy for a whole season and I think he gets 1200-1300 yards and 8-10 TDs (maybe more TDs) Of course injuries and Barber are reasons why he would not reach those numbers but as far as skill goes you cannot call him average. He is a well above average back who has put up average numbers because he lights it up and then is injured which brings his average down. So there is risk/reward there but I'd take him over a durable guy who will play the whole season and never be able to do better than average.
Raider 84 29 Posted April 17, 2006 He looked awesome his rookie year. I think he is very capable of carry the ball 25 times a game.
