yostevo 0 Posted April 21, 2006 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=97VS9_NpC60...=michael%20huff Here's what jumps out at me. Strengths: Speed and more speed. He seems to glide across the field with very little wasted motion. Everyone else seems to be stuck in molasses as he darts around. A strong kid and a very sure tackler. He's also very instinctive. He seems to be able to know where the runner is going to go before even he decides. Defiinitely a playmaker. Weaknesses: Very few but the one that sticks out is that he doesn't lay the hammer down on people. Are NFL receivers going to have fear going over the middle with him back there? He's bringing down college backs sure handedly and with regularity but the NFL backs/receivers will be bigger and faster. Is he going to shy away from contact? A valid question mark IMO. He showed some hands in the video but he's been known to drop some gimme interceptions. Needless to say, he's one of the safest picks on the board and a potental pro bowler. He'd look great in Honolulu blue and silver at the Leo's #9.
hoffdaddy 1 Posted April 21, 2006 Another guy I'd be happy to see in Green Bay, but five is too high for him.
Eriadoc 4 Posted April 21, 2006 There seems to be some debate on where he should play - CB or Safety. I say, with his speed and instincts, that he'd make a good corner.
PWFFL 0 Posted April 21, 2006 Yeah I really do like his size and speed. He really does just glide across the field but the one thing I don't like which could be disatrous is he doesnt learn quickly is he doesnt just lay people out. He does but throughout that highlight film I maybe saw one or two sure tackles. He uses his hands a lot to bring people down and sorry but thats not going to work in the NFL. You can count on him being there, going through and taking on blockers and having the speed and size to match up against nearly anyone but I really don't see him being the guy to take that runner down. I see him being like a Roy Williams but without the hitting mentality. I really liked that highlight film Does anyone know where I can find more of them on like AJ Hawk, Mario Williams and some other top prospects?

joefry 0 Posted April 21, 2006 I have a feeling that he might be GB's guy if Williams isn't there.

Id say which ever positiopn you need help most....although corner is a more valuable position...

I was thinking the same thing, but if you think about it... Name a corner that tackles like that, like a linebacker. Antoine Winfield. Beyond that I'm pretty stumped. Most either sub-marine players, or grab up high. They just aren't big enough to take on today's ball carriers.

If he wants to play safety however, I think he should learn how to hit someone.
Ilov80s 0 Posted April 22, 2006 There is no doubt his tackling form is not solid, but at the same time has is a very effective tackler. We saw in the Rose Bowl him bring down NFL caliber players: Bush, White, and Byrd. He may go high, but he seems to be pretty effective at it. He didn't put too many big hits on Wrs, but on the blitz he killed some of those QBs. He seems to also have a real knack for creating turnovers. He's a playmaker and I liked what I saw. 9-Route 0 Posted April 22, 2006 Thats true. If he wants to play safety however, I think he should learn how to hit someone. i agree. at the end of the day, he is a 4yr, polished, athletic, heady, and sure-bet player with speed at a very important position (corner). tackling technique may be an issue, but he seems to produce results. i concur with the thoughts that drafting him as high as 5-6 are a little steep. if i were a GM, id love to have 2 draft picks among the 7-14 range and and pair up a top cover guy (huff) with a skilled pass rusher (lawson/bunkley/wimbley/sims). as far as the nfl comparisons, i liken him to a darren sharper---not an extreme hitter, but a solid tackler who is always there/near the ball, and generates turnovers. i dont see him as a roy williams (huge hitter, but not as fluid in coverage) or ed reed (extremely rangy cover and ball skills with elite speed). football_scooter 0 Posted April 23, 2006 Good speed, good pursuit, tackles like a phag. Bout sums it up. That's why I'd rather the Niners take VDavis over Huff - I'm not big on high 1st round DBs who can't tackle. I just don't see how Huff is that much more valuable than the DBs that will be sitting there at 22...should be 3-5 of them with comparable skills, though Huff seems to have more upside. You can teach someone how to tackle. You can't teach speed, instinct and natural play making ability which seperates Huff. Not to mention his versatility.
