Not really. I like the franchise mode on Madden, and although it could be improved a lot, I can't see playing a coach/GM-only game.

it is the same thing as regular madden, just simulating the games, rather then playing the games

To me, this just seems like playing franchise mode on Madden but not controlling the players. You can just call plays in Madden and let all the players do their thing. You can also create your own playbooks in Madden. You can hire assistants, draft, etc etc etc

 

So why buy this coach game?

 

One thing that bugs me about Madden drafts.....what would it take to have a highlight clip for all the guys in at least the first 3 rounds of the draft. That would make make franchise mode twice as nice.

i dont think they would put out a Madden Coach game, i assume this is just a new feature in '07?

 

i dont get it though sicne there has pretty much always been one anyways

it looks like all they added was the practice feature in which you can pump your players up......

meh, i'll stick to franchise thank you, i actually like playing the games

Thought the game sounded interesting, but the franchise mode in Madden is so deep, I don't know why you'd buy this unless it was a discount title (which I doubt). If you don't want to play the games, I think Madden has a simulation feature, so you could just be the coach/GM by using the regular Madden game.

I guess this could be for people who are not too videogame savy and can't control playing a game so just being a coach and doing all that....you don't have to learn all those button thingies

if I read the webpage correctly though, you still call the plays in the game.

 

So it's not quite the same as playing Madden 200X and simulating the games - when you sim a game you don't see anything. You just see the record/score results.

 

It looks like in this one you choose the plays on a down-by-down basis, and each play is simulated, and you can watch it unfold.

 

Personally I like playing the game - I rarely use franchise mode in those games, and it's fun just to play against friends.

 

But I wouldn't totally write this one off - I got rid of my XBox last year and I'm waiting for the PSIII, so in the meanwhile I might buy this one for the PC, where playing action games kinda sucks without a controller.

I'm interested in this Head Coach title exactly because you can't play the games. Maybe my gameplay won't distort the stats so much like it does on Madden (Favre had 67 TD passes in 2006? Riiight).

 

Now, I was a little disappointed in the whole Superstar mode so I fear the Head Coach game might play about the same. I plan to rent before buying.

 

ALSO: The Playstation 3 appears to be an over-priced, over-teched, blue ray doorstop when compared to the Wii or the 360. EA should be available for these formats, correct? I'll probably go 360 and try to leave the PS2 set-up intact for the games I already have.

Do you also have to hold press conferences when your Rb gets caught with a wizzinator at the airport?

Do you have to defend your players to the media when they are arrested for beating up a stripper, getting a DUI and are accused of screwing a chicken?

Do you have to deal with the Postons?

Do you have to deal with attitudes like Owens?

Do you have to deal with ticked off fans?

 

Then it isn't any more real than Madden.

u can call the plays on madden and watch, they have a mode for that.... but how boring is it to call the plays and watch - I'll continue to play regular madden until the new one comes out

Are they serious? This is a complete joke. Why in the hell would anyone buy or play a game at EA Sports retail price if they can't control the players??? Thats beyond stupid. This is a rip-off and insane. Not even worth the time debating. The game provides some cool screenshots though.
