They'd be five games in front if they didn't have .220 hitter with 5 HRs batting cleanup. ;)

According to the SF Chronicle reporters' new book, he undertook his whole steroid program in order to beat McGwire's records because he hates white people.

Also, you sound like you need someone to take a belt sander to your face, shitstain.

oh so you focks news lemming lock steppers listen to and sleep with the front page of a liberal rag newspaper when it publishes an article about an african american baseball player....

:bench:

but when it publishes a story about the president or anyone in the current administration.......

ahhh, i get it....

Which wife? The first wife, who was the Swedish immigrant, who he married in Vegas, who he claimed at the time of their divorce was not entitled to any of their money, and who he was probably sleeping around on?

ummm. she was sleeping around on him....

He married the white girl as an "in your face" to the white man. In black society, there's no bigger "F U" to the white man than marrying a white girl.

Sorry that I had to pull out my ghetto-knowledge on yo punk ass.

and how do you explain him having a white feller as his best fried IN HIGH SCHOOL.....BEFORE HE GOT MARRIED?

dufas?

:(

Do you have proof of this or are you just throwing out wild accusations like everything else in this thread? Bonds has been accused by other parties (i.e. not Sun Bonds) of adultery.

posters like this whine and cry about barry bonds all day. oh he is about to pass the babe....oh he should have an asterisk next to his name....blah, blah, blah.

but, alex sanchez, matt lawton, juan rincon and derek turnbow and several others have been suspended by MLB for steriod use. yet there is no movment from the lemmings to ban them from the game, take away their stats or crucify them in mainstream media.

and posters like this usually do not know that congress went to MLB in the 1970s and asked them to remove steriods from the game...yet here we are how many years later?

You offer proof of Bonds pushing around his wife.

I would say that this article is not flattering for Barry and does not mention adultery. I supposed you could extrapolate (a lot) to get to her cheating on him, but if this is your proof, then I would never want you sticking up for me.

what can you do when MLB promoted (superhero cartoon hulk all-star campaign), marketed (chicks dig the long ball) and continues to profit from its cheaters?

there will still be pockets of the unsatisfied regardless of what "action" is taken.

The birth control pill is not like a condom. You don't take it with you to have sex. You take them over the course of time. Let me know when you figure out how to cheat on someone because you sound naive.

Did you ever think that she did not want to have another kid with Barry because he was smacking her around?

I don't need a pre-nup. They are not worth the paper that they are on.

so what do you think they should do about all the cheaters?

Steroids were not officially banned in MLB until 2003. If you fail a drug test post 2003 then you should receive the punishment MLB has set. I think its like a 30 - 100- lifetime ban or something like that. Because MLB turned their backs on roids, they cannot go back and single out one player (who has never tested positive for steroids under their guidelines) and take him out of the game or put asterisks by records or anything of the sort. If you are gonna do that, you need to put a damn asterisk next to every single player form 83' to 03'. This is the hole MLB has dug itself in to. They cannot touch Barry Bonds, Big Mac, or Sosa because these are the players that MLB relied on to bring the game back from the strike shortened season. MLB does not have a leg to stand on.

Also, the sportswriters have a decision to make in regards to the HOF. As a voting member either you vote Barry Bonds in first ballot or you do not vote anybody that played in the steroids era in at all. Because MLB has no idea who was using and who was not then it would be hypocritical to exclude Barry or Mcgwire and vote in somebody else just because they were not scrutinized as much. That would be a travesty.

Now the court of public opinion is a whole other thing. And this will ultimately judge how players in this era are remembered. Its just too bad Barry Bonds has to take the brunt of everybody’s mistakes including his own. Admittedly a lot of his backlash is self inflicted with his surly attitude, however I find it grossly hypocritical that he is labeled a cheater and venomously attacked, when players like Gary Sheffield get a free pass from MLB, the media and the fans. JMO.

Why is that? because their league wasn't put up infront of congress and called out on the issue, because several books written by some of it's players.

you think NFL players aren't using roids right now and haven't been for the last 30 years?

And who exactly are all these "big names" that were caught red handed? Didn't Bill Romo just admit he used steroids the last 5 or 6 years of his career?

While testing for steroids did not start until 2003, their use was banned from baseball along with all other illegal drugs (steroids have been illegal for a while) long before testing was implemented.

I agree with most of the rest of your premise, however.

What you and many seem to fail to realize is that if Sheffield were to approach a hallowed baseball record, he too would be scrutinized as well. Maybe not to the point that Bonds has been but that's because Bonds is a douchebag. :(

i never said there wasn't ever or isn't a steriod problem in the NFL...when mcguire, bonds, sosa, giambi, sheffield, etc. ALL get called out in the public the shiit has hit the fan. i'm sorry but you can't ignore the pink elephant in the room. the steriod problem in football never went THIS public.

It amazes me that people are so desperate to defend Bonds, a class A pr!ck.

The guy is a total ass, and people want to turn his poor attitude into something racial, it may work in other scenerios, but it wont work here. He is a d!ck no matter what people do to try and defend him. :(

I agree with you about it going public... however, none of the aforementioned have been caught red handed. Only big name to test positive was raffy and he's no longer in the game. As soon as Bond's retires, this issue will magically go away....

"red-handed" may have been a poor choice of words in a literal sense but in the court of public opinion they've been caught and convicted.

The court of public opinion is far more fair to the truth than an actual courtroom. Besides, the public is not as dumb as we might be led to believe, they know darn right well that Bonds cheated.

I beleive that he will eventually be forgiven, but it will take longer than it should because he is a D!CK!

If he weren't such a friggin cacksucker then people would be giving him more of a break on this.

Fair enough.

Still, the fact remains. When Bonds retires, the steroids issue will leave the game. Don't you find this the least bit ironic? Considering there will be plenty of people "accused" of being steroid users?

i only defend him because he has become the lightning rod posterboy for this whole scandal. babe ruth cheated on his wife, fought team members and drank heavily. that would not fly in today's 24 hour media spotlight either...but he is still saintly in the eyes of the many who bash bonds.

and the casual bonds basher is usually unaware of the fact that MLB just banned amphetamines THIS season and they have been legal in MLB since WWII.

they probably do not know that amphetamine usage in baseball was so common that some teams had to set up special programs to help players deal with the ban this season.

if a player takes amphetamines it can also help a player's body produce human growth hormone. and HGH is something that MLB still does not test for.

yet all we hear is bonds and roids. not even palmiero and roids or conseco (nobody wanted to listen to him) and roids or caminiti (nobody wanted to listen to him) and roids.

just bonds and roids....NOW.....because he about to pass ruth.

this is what i was talking about. some people have no clue about what is really happening.

MLB banned the use of amphetamines a year after they banned the use of steriods. Some writers and critics cried for MLB to ban them both a couple of years ago. But they did not.

it's about a "ironic" as alanis morissette's song. bonds is the biggest name in baseball, going after it's biggest record and he's basically the last link to the "steriod era". how is that ironic?

So as an analogy of this logic:

if person A commits murder, but besides that is generally a nice fellow, it is okay. But if person B commits murder and is an a-hole, he should be hung.
