Strike 6,030 Posted June 2, 2006 Damn freaking credit agencies and credit card companies. I have a not too uncommon name, although I suspect this happens to a lot of people, and those idiots just look people's names up in the phone book and call. Then they try to act like it's you and want you to tell them your SSN (or part of it) in order to prove you're not. Anyone else have this crap happen? Someone just called from AMEX (supposedly) and the caller ID said "name unknown". I'm like "if you're from AMEX how come it doesn't say AMEX?" and she's like "noted but that's just how we work. So what's your SSN?" Yeah right. So she gives it to me and of course it's not mine. Fockers. Okay, done venting.....
Brown Eyed Girl 1 Posted June 2, 2006 That sucks, Strike. The past 2 times I've flown out of town, I've had to be pulled out of line to be frisked and have my bags searched. It was becoming too much of a coincidence that it kept happening consecutively to me, so when I asked, they told me there was someone else with my name that they were looking for. Not sure how long I'll have to deal with this. Flying out of town again next week. We'll see if they've found BEG 2 yet!

I got a call from the "Security Department of Visa and Mastercard" which set off an alarm bell right there. They told me they were calling because they noticed some unusual charges on my bill and wanted to ask if I made them. They said someone purchased a lot of stereo equipment in NY and asked if I made those charges. I of course said no, it wasn't me. Then after a bunch of bull crap this and that, they asked me for my CC#. I was like *yeah right* but I played along. I said if they were from the CC company, why couldn't they tell me what CC was supposedly used, and what the CC# was? I forget what the excuse was, but they kept trying to get me to give them my CC#. I was laughing as I hung up.

Jeff Garcia 8 Posted June 2, 2006 I believe it's federal law that they have to give the name and number on your caller ID.
Rusty Syringes 479 Posted June 2, 2006 I just start making either gaywad comments if it's a guy or really lewd comments if it's a gal. They usually hang up in about 0.0001 seconds after I say something like: "Ummmm, I can smell your vagina from here. What are you wearing?"
ROBOKOP 0 Posted June 3, 2006 If someone calls and says, "May I please speak with....." and they mispronounce my name, they obviously dont know me, so I simply say NO! and hang up.
