football_scooter 0 Posted June 14, 2006 Walking the dog with a pooper scooper in the left hand and a ff mag in the right. 1. pooper scoopers are for faegs. I use a plastic baggie and my hand. Love that warm squishy feeling...really bonds you to your dog. 2. I went ahead and deletored my half of the overblown nonsense in this topic, with the hopes that solo will do the same to keep things tidy and put the water under the bridge. 3. I left the original 40/midget post because damnit, it's funny. 4. Anquan Bouldin was one of the 4 I wanted. I shouldn't have said sh!t. You suck. (uh, with all due respect and no offense intended?) 5. gimme a minute to clean up - kinda sweaty after running 2 miles with a game of doggie-frisbee in between. football_scooter 0 Posted June 14, 2006 Picked, b!tches! And I even went against my own advice in the OTC topic. I'm squirrely that way. And for the record, I may not have taken Chester Taylor, just because I would have never heard the end of it. in the long run I went with the younger version of the back I almost took. Without mentioning names, of course. Fire away at what a horrid pick it was.
ellisonb11 0 Posted June 14, 2006 i was sort of aiming for FWP to fall to me. my pick might be a tough one. we will see, but im sure ill probly screw up my draft somehow with my 3rd round pick.
SoloMatisse 0 Posted June 14, 2006 wow...an FWP sighting.....here's a quick funny tale about FWP for you guys. I picked him up last year in my keeper league with my friend Howie, who's our 12th man now....die hard Steelers fan, Howie. Picked him up off the waiver wire right after the draft before week 1. he blows up week 1, and I trade him to Howie for a 1st and 4th rounder in this year's draft. Howie wins the friggin' league with FWP blowin' up for somethin' like an 80yd TD during the championship week. dirty, f-in dog. so FWP has LED teams to titles.....nice pick, Scoot. and thanks for not takin' my guy............ jocstrap 8 Posted June 14, 2006 I kind of expected 12 rb maybe 11 to go in the first round. I would have never thought 7 wr +1 qb would go in the 2nd round. I for sure thought I was going to get a Harrison or C.J
football_scooter 0 Posted June 14, 2006 oooooo-kay....I stand corrected. Antonio "who's my QB?" gates was not on my short list. Interesting pick, solo. some amazing value falling to the middle-end of the 3rd, IMO.

I for sure thought I was going to get a Harrison or C.J I'm not. In a PPR league WRs go off the board early, especially when you consider you have to start 3 WRs each sunday. If this wasn't a PPR league, I wouldn't have drafted two WRs in the first three rounds. Clash is up!
Steel City Blues 0 Posted June 14, 2006 Nice run of picks there. I found it odd you went Parker with (zzzzzzz) on the board. Don't disagree with the pick at all BTW. You must have bumped him up when (QBQBQBQB) got injured. I like talking without names. We should do this on the mange board too. Solo...bra...you third person opportunist you. Gates at this point has Xponential value. Busting down doors after your shakeup pick in the first.

You must have bumped him up when (QBQBQBQB) got injured. No - didn't really consider that. PIT is a running team, run run run run run. Bettis is gone and I'm not convinced that either [XXX] or [YYY] will be a serious threat to his production, while the other RB is on the wrong side of 30. Also, FWP is not going to lose carries to his QB like my other choice, and the "3rd other guy: I was targeting is coming off a bad season and has a major player competing for carries with him. I don't know...I think i could have taken a safer pick there. I project FWP for about 50 more carries than he had last year and +20 receptions to put him around 1200/6 and 350/3, which would be fine for his draft position. I admit though - I surprised myself pulling the trigger on this one.
SoloMatisse 0 Posted June 14, 2006 I know Scoot, the Gates pick was iffy, kinda like the Willie pick, but by our league scoring standards, Gates would have had 253 total points last year as a TE.....as a FRIGGIN' TE. Two thirds of the starting RBs in the NFL wouldnt have that many fantasy points. Willie Parker by comparison would have had 193pts...which is nice. Of course, those were last year's #s, but I feel good about Gates future production even with a first time starter in there......because the first guy Rivers will look to over and over again will be Gates. Gates held out last year all thru camp, was suspended the 1st game, came in with zero preseason practice and dropped 90 catches 1100 yds and 10 TDs on the league. Those are starting WR #s and those stats are here to stay, imo. Gates is entering his 4th year.....PRIME years at his position. Tony G put up his best #s in year 4.....Im hoping for the same from Gates. Ive gotta say Im not crazy about the Fast Willie pick, but I definitely think he could end up being very solid. His #s from last year were good, and they could potentially go up, well they absolutely should, in the receiving area. I see a bit of a limit on his total carries because of his size, but he didnt seem to get hurt last year which is a great sign, and so if he stays healthy, the potential for improvement in rushing yds is there. But my gut tells me no. I think 1200 is about his ceiling in yardage, but if he scores a few more TDs and catches a few more balls, he'll make a nice #2 to Portis. Would you have taken Reggie Bush had he fallen to you?? This part of the draft is getting into the gray area......stuck in between deciding which position to fill....staying young or going old with 'reliable' #s.... Rye & Leaf 0 Posted June 14, 2006 Would you have taken Reggie Bush had he fallen to you?? If either R. Bush or C. Taylor fell to me, I would have given them serious consideration. Tony G put up his best #s in year 4 I'm sure you meant Kenny G cause we don't mention unpicked players in this league. Solo, because you're a fan, if you win this league, I will burn you a copy of your favorite Kenny G cd.
Ace08 11 Posted June 14, 2006 I but by our league scoring standards, Gates would have had 253 total points last year as a TE.....as a FRIGGIN' TE. Two thirds of the starting RBs in the NFL wouldnt have that many fantasy points. As soon as I saw you picked him I was about to come in here and type this exact fact.....Antonio Gates wasn't a good pick, it was a PHENOMENAL pick in this scoring system. As a matter of fact I would say it's going to end up being the best pick of round 3 no matter what happens over the next 7 picks. I would have taken him in a heartbeat had he fallen to 3.09. Conversely....2 RB's just went off the board that I feel are major stretches.....Parker and Foster. Especially considering some of the RB's that were and STILL are on the board. Foster's gotta hold off a first round pick and is injury proned and Parker is going to be sharing duty and won't score alot of TD's. There's at least 3 really good RB's still available to be drafted this late which I'm really surprised about. With that said.....absolutely phenomenal pick on Chester Taylor. He was the running back I was referring to the other day when I stated I wished he would make it back to me at 3.09. I've said it a million times on the main board so I'm not gonna re-hash it again....but I honestly believe he's this years Lamont Jordan. Wouldn't surprise me one bit if he ended the season ranked in the top 5 RB's using this scoring system.
Grateful Parrot 0 Posted June 14, 2006 Is there any way we could step it up time wise to make our picks. It's been 3 days and we're in the middle of the 3 round. The draft is still 20 rounds right? At this rate, we won't finish the draft until the 29th or 30th. We're taking our 8yr daughter to her first ever Disney vacation the 21st through the 28th. I would like to have the draft done before then. I don't know what the internet access is in the hotels and how much time I will have to draft.
football_scooter 0 Posted June 14, 2006 Would you have taken Reggie Bush had he fallen to you?? Not just no, but HELL no. This isn't a keeper league, and taking a rookie RB on a terrible team this high in the draft just ain't my thing. way too risky, and I hate the Saints. I think that team is a mess. And while [playerB] might not be 100%, he will play and cut into Bush's #s. With that said.....absolutely phenomenal pick on Chester Taylor. He was the running back I was referring to the other day when I stated I wished he would make it back to me at 3.09. Wouldn't surprise me one bit if he ended the season ranked in the top 5 RB's using this scoring system. Which is reason #1A that I don't tell my frends about this site. Fact is that an unproven CTaylor should never have been taken over some of the names on the board, warts & all. His ADP is 3.06 or so...I should have been able to take him at 3.04. But on this forum with my cards out on the table, it makes it very difficult. Just an added challenge...I think it's safe to say that my 2nd & 3rd picks are at least keeping you guys on your toes. I don't think anyone expected the Parker pick, myself included.
Ace08 11 Posted June 14, 2006 I'll be 100% honest. Had Willis McGahee been selected before the 2.04 pick....I would have shocked the world and taken Taylor right then and there. I'm that high on the guy. Plus I knew there wasn't a snowball's chance in hell he'd make it back to me at 3.09 with the savages in this league. Side note...I think the actual drafting has been FANTASTIC in the league so far. I can see the reasoning/logic behind every pick made thus far and there hasn't been any "ridiculous" picks. This is shaping up to be a draft that outsiders can use as a pretty good guide as to what to expect in their real drafts. Granted, the stock for some of these players (and others not picked yet) could move significantly up or down between now and August.....but as of what we know today....I think everyone is doing a great job. Granted, the stock for some of these players (and others not picked yet) could move significantly up or down between now and August.....but as of what we know today....I think everyone is doing a great job. I agree - even the risks can almost be justified. The 3 that stand out to me are 1.10 Brian Westbrook - his touches are slated to increase and he's a PPR beast. That was about 15 picks before his ADPas a late 2nd rounder, and he's long had health issues, but IF he stays healthy and has the role many anticipate, I can see the value. I still think it was a reach because he should have made it back to 2.03, but that's neither here nor there. 3.01 DeShaun Foster - talk about a boom or bust pick. I happen to be in the boom camp, but I am also in the minority on that one. I've had him 2 straight seasons with mixed results. He's won me games when I've needed to use him. He also seems to get hurt more often than he should. Tough pick, but in PPR he can be Brian Westbrook +++ because he's every bit the receiver and a better runner. IMO. 3.03 Reggie Bush - this pick took balls. My problem with it isn't anything to do with Bush, it's the team around him. There's bigtime competition for the position (potentially) and there's some concerns at the QB position. Also the O-Line sucks and while improving, the defense & special teams aren't there yet. Great player (potentially) but not a great FFB player this year, IMO. Butr all that said, all 3 of those players could well exceed their draft position.
