torridjoe 48 Posted June 14, 2006 Five of the first six, 7 of the first ten. Gotten Papi twice. I think he has his stuff. Who replaced my usual mediocre Wang with one that can pitch?

Patriotsfatboy1 1,433 Posted June 14, 2006 I was anticipating this pitcher's duel tonight. It has lived up to its billing. A nice vodka and lemonade in front of the TV and I have to admit that I am enjoying a pitching clinic, which is not common and not like me.

Schill is pitching pretty well, but the Twins hitters suck ass except for Mauer. Santana, except for two hitters where he took some kind of power nap, has been mystifying against one of the top 2 or 3 offenses in the majors.

At last check, the game is 9 innings long.
Patriotsfatboy1 1,433 Posted June 14, 2006 How about 11 in 5 innings? He has stuff tonight. The Sox don't do well against lefties, but this is ridiculous. How soon before redtodd jumps onto the field and tackles Santana?
drobeski 3,061 Posted June 14, 2006 the only bright side to this masterful performance by Santana is having him on my fantasy team.

torridjoe 48 Posted June 14, 2006 No doubt. Santana got his 1000th K. That's pretty damn good for 27. If he were to become a horse like Clemens or Unit or Schilling, and put in another 13-14 years, he'd threaten the top 5 all time. Edit--he'd have a shot at best lefty ever, actually. Patriotsfatboy1 1,433 Posted June 14, 2006 where did ed find his ass ? ed be honest, you work with him ? he is a member of the help desk ? It was by accident. Duquette fell off his "more days in first place" high horse and landed on edjr's head.

Santana is good but let's not get ahead of ourselves. Heck, when all is said and done he may not be the best lefty on his own team (watch out for Francisco Liriano). Edit - Your mancrush for Santana is just slightly higher than mine for Liriano...okay, a LOT higher, but still

Certainly true. He's been brought along the right way, though, and has been very durable so far in his career. Power guys last longer, and lefty power guys longer than that. Anything can happen, but at this point he's on cruise.

DBZFan2K 0 Posted June 14, 2006 I drafted both of them in BOSMOSPOF. I'm looking forward to seeing what the two of them do after the break. I've got Santana in a dynasty league, and Liriano in a keeper league, so I'm definitely enjoying their pitching as of late.
p.man 7 Posted June 14, 2006 Who cares? I know. But the Yanks just beat the Indians 1-0 to end a 4 game losing streak.

DBZFan2K 0 Posted June 14, 2006 THE CAPTAIN!!! Who cares? I know. But the Yanks just beat the Indians 1-0 to end a 4 game losing streak. I've seen you post a lot more about the Yankees than the Mets. Just saying.

joneo 562 Posted June 14, 2006 The Twin's catcher is twice as good as Veritek so that means he will get a 2-run homer.

p.man 7 Posted June 14, 2006 THE CAPTAIN!!! I've seen you post a lot more about the Yankees than the Mets. Just saying. I'm watching the Mets beat up on Phili 9-4 in the bottom of the 7th. Trust me I'm a Mets fan. With the Yankees always being on tv it's almost imposible not to watch them. After the Yankees play their games their Yes network shows the same game 2 or 3 more times. It's called Yankees encore.
Patriotsfatboy1 1,433 Posted June 14, 2006 That Yanks game must have been a pretty good game. Both teams put up some runs and it ends 1-0. Anyone have some comments on what happened there?

p.man 7 Posted June 14, 2006 That Yanks game must have been a pretty good game. Both teams put up some runs and it ends 1-0. Anyone have some comments on what happened there? Not sure. I was only able to watch parts of the 8th and 9th inning. I did see Mariano strike out the last batter to end the game. And I did see A.Rod's last at bat. He struck out and the fans once again booed him.

p.man 7 Posted June 14, 2006 It's the bottom of the 8th and the Mets still lead 9-4. If they win they'll hold a 7 1/2 game lead over the Phillies. The Braves are already 10 games back. I love seeing that. Phili does have 2nd and 3rd with only 1 out. Hr!!! It's now 9-7. So much for beating up on them. They still have a 2 run lead. Wagner is getting ready. p.man 7 Posted June 14, 2006 Wagner came in and walked the 1st guy and was 3-0 to the next but managed to strike him out. But the runner on 1st was running and he was thrown out at 2nd to end the inning. We go to the 9th. Oh, The Braves lost again tonight. This could be a great night for the Mets. joneo 562 Posted June 14, 2006 WOW. Did you see that throw down to second by Mauer? I know he didn't get the guy but it doesn't get any better than that throw. He's money.
p.man 7 Posted June 14, 2006 What a play by David Wright!!! The Phillies had a man on 1st and Pat Burrell slammed a ball down the 3rd base line. It would have been 2nd and 3rd with nobody out but David Wright made a diving play to his right and snaged the ball and the Mets were still able to turn the double play. As it turns out the next batter singled and that would have tied the game up. The Mets Win It! Billy Wagner gets the save and the Mets take a 7 1/2 game lead over the Phillies. This was their 6th straight win too. Alright!
