No information on the numbers, but he was schedule to be a UFA at the end of the year and is now signed through 2009. Can't be good news for Thomas Jones.

I don't know about that, but he's a good all-around player, including special teams coverage.

good move by the bears. i don't know if i'd read too much into what it does or doesn't mean for any of the other rbs. peterson is a valuable rb on the depth chart. you need more than 2 on your chart.

I totally agree. He needs to stay healthy and learn to block though.

 

I honestly think this is the end of the road for TJ in Chicago.

 

First off, they just gave a less important RB more money and a better deal, something TJ asked for.

 

Second, this has to feel like a slap in the face to TJ.

He should go to San Fran. Get rid of all the bums there and get a solid back.

Jones would look good in an Eagles jersey. Give me a running back tandem of Westbrook/Jones/Moats, and I'll show you a team that will change their offensive philosophy and win 12 games this season.

Good signing. AP is a solid backup and team player. It does appear the wrining is on the wall for TJ. Mixed feelings on the subject. Its great to have 3 deep depth at RB, but at the same time, they should be able to get something of value for him now. The Bears rely so much on the run that you dont want to leave yourself thin there. There is strong points to keep him or get rid of him.

I would be more than comfortable having a RB triumvirate of Westbrook/Thos Jones/Ryan Moats.
