BiPolarBear 483 Posted July 14, 2006 This list is absolutely nothing without Jetro Tull who won the first ever Heavy Metal Grammy. Did you know that Jetro Tull (the person) invented the plow that is pulled behind a horse. Thank you. Thank you. iboredmyselftoo
ZeroTolerance 584 Posted July 14, 2006 Van Halen = metal...does not compute.
SUXBNME 1,457 Posted July 15, 2006 IMO, Only4 of those groups are even "Heavy Metal". Sabbath Judas Priest Iron Maiden Motorhead Motley Crue (maybe) These would classify as "Speed Metal" Metallica Pantera Slayer Ministry (?) Sepultura Megadeth Anthrax These would be "Hard Rock" Van Halen AC / DC Kiss has no business being here at all. These I don't know enough about. In Flames Merciful Fate Venom So...how close is my opinion to yours?
Manifest Destiny 0 Posted July 15, 2006 IMO, Only4 of those groups are even "Heavy Metal".These I don't know enough about. In Flames Merciful Fate Venom In Flames - Swedish band that has been pretty influential in modern melodic death metal. Probably should have been At The Gates on this list instead as they were the first and most influential in that genre. Mercyful Fate - King Diamond's first band. Very influential band for Lars Ulrich. Metallica made a medley of a bunch of there songs on Garage Inc. called "Mercyful Fate". Classic 80's european metal sound with VERY challenging vocals (for those unfamiliar with King Diamond). Venom - 80's metal band that used a lot of jokey satanic images and themes. Singled handedly created and coined the name of the genre known as black metal. I agree with you on ther non-metal entries. I don't consider Tool to be metal either...just extremely focking awesome! MÖTLEY CRÜE link I seen worse lists,at least. MEGADETH should be in the top ten. Iron Maiden rules over all of them. GnR should be on the top ten list along with MEGADETH.They should bump Kiss, MOTÖRHEAD,smong others.

GNR was short lived, but Appetite, Lies, and Use your Illusion I & II were second to none. One of my favorite bands.
