D_House 0 Posted July 15, 2006 I always thought the Screaming Trees were an unheralded great of the grunge era. Their records were always consistent, with at least one, truly great, radio-ready tune per album. Lead singer Mark Lanegan went on to work with the Queens of the Stone Age, another solid rock band. Also, Big Star was a band that has built up a cult following now, but apparently had zero record sales when they were active in the early-mid 70s. They had a bunch of great pop rock tunes, one of them is used as the theme song for That 70s Show - "In the Streets."

Great calls. I'll go with: Atomic Bitchwax (their ghey name obviously holds them back) Dredg (better marketing and these guys will rule the world) Kyuss (original band of Josh Homme, QOTSA, now defunct) Minus the Bear (probably just a matter of time) Morphine (jazz fusion, but extremely underrated, just the same; also defunct...Mark Sandman, RIP) Opeth (the sheer length and occasional death metal vocals hold them back) Ween (they don't stick eith one style from album to album...too hard for record execs to classify)

Giants Fan 85 Posted July 16, 2006 Elastica "S.O.F.T." is as good as anything Nirvana ever did. "And in a dress to small to be a dress at all, is it hard to stop?" Mostly famous for licensing "Connection" to Budweiser for a football commercial with a blimp. "I don't understand how a heart is a spade ... somehow it flies a connection is made." That whole first album is awesome.
