burdsheet 0 Posted July 28, 2006 props to Hurricane for being the first to point out the FoxSports.com sucks. They either: 1) doesn't know $hit about FF or 2) will print the post ridiculous articles just to be different and attract readers. Check out this supposed ranking of the top 50 FF players from yesterday... http://msn.foxsports.com/fantasy/story/5311122 It takes a special kind of retard to rank Willis McGahee #14, ahead of Marvin Harrison, TO, Fitz, Manning, Antonio Gates etc.

ExtremeFajita 0 Posted July 28, 2006 24 Tatum Bell RB DEN Ready to take mantle left by Terrell Davis, Clinton Portis Wow! Ranked 12 spots ahead of Gates, too...It took me about 2 minutes of researching Bell this year to learn that the coaching staff in Denver believes he is best suited to get about 10 touches a game since his productivity falls off significantly after that I guess they're using last year's FFIndex magazine for some of this info. burdsheet 0 Posted July 28, 2006 This ranking would make slightly more sense if it were a ranking of where they think these players will be drafted, because then I could see the point of more RBs near the top of the list. It's a ranking of the Top 50 and did you see who didn't make the cut? Dillon, McNabb, Culpepper, Heap didn't make the list but Reggie Bush does? ... laughable. FBIGUY 0 Posted July 28, 2006 I don't see that big of a problem with this list. Honesty people when have our pre-season rankings ever held up to be true for the year? You guys always want to follow the normal list and when someone goes off it you all say they are stupid. I see this list as a list of player rankings and have no problem with it....isn't it almost interchangable after the top 15 anyhow? Relax peeps!
ExtremeFajita 0 Posted July 28, 2006 I have no problem if someone has a different opinion than the consesus for the Top 50...they just need to back it up with some well reasoned arguments and hopefully some stats. However, if you are writing for one of the most visible media orginazations in the world and publish information that shows you really haven't put any time into researching the subject then you are not doing your job. I'm not outraged...just flabbergasted (wow I think that's the first time I've used that word online). It's true that preseason Top 50 rankings never reflect the Week 17 ones, but that doesn't mean that someone earning a salary can throw together a bunch of "gut feelings" and not get poked at a bit by the geeks who do their homework. Portis26 0 Posted July 28, 2006 It takes a special kind of retard to rank Willis McGahee #14, ahead of Marvin Harrison, TO, Fitz, Manning, Antonio Gates etc. Willis could have better season - plus RBs are more valuable -- so its not that crazy to think someone would pick Willis over thos guys. I would take Willis over Fitz and then take Bolden in the next round and probably getting better value and equal stats to Fitz. Owens is a wild card with huge upside.. but still a chance of a melt down... and Marvin had elbow surgury ..and could have less then 1300 yards this season, whereas Willis could have 1300 yds with ease. i think YOU NEED TO STOP SMOKING CRACK!!! and if you pick Gates over Willis - you need to stop playing fantasy football and just donate your money to some charity and REMEMBER PEOPLE -- Bell had 173 touches last season and is likely to have ALOT more this season... so dont sleep on Bell because of last year
pacman_fl 0 Posted July 28, 2006 I know, here comes the beating, BUT.....I agree FOX (as most major outlets do) puts out some funny shiate in the pre-seaon, but I tracked 5 FREE sights last year on weekly projections (free does not mean accurate per se). Believe it or not, Fox was the most accurate (for my line-ups anyway - starters/backups, 2 leagues). Even better, the misses were generally 5-7% to the short side (meaning my player went over). Just a small tidbit. With that said - when I started projections/rankings a month ago I checked them with FOX to make sure I didn't match up (knowing that I would probably be whacked). edjr 6,580 Posted July 28, 2006 ...and this was your 31,581st post? Point? I'm not complaining about other people's made up football projections with my own made up football projections. I'm at work anyway, so I am getting paid indirectly to be here.

I'm at work anyway, so I am getting paid indirectly to be here. Point is you're obviously into FF and I'm not complaining about those predictions...I just think the writer isn't very good at what he does. I would be quite happy if the other owners in my league use that sheet at draft-time. I agree that the whole thing is nothing to get worked up over, but if preseason predictions and debates were useless, these forums would be dead until Week 1. hoffdaddy 1 Posted July 28, 2006 It's funny that we have to listen to complaints about this every week. You don't like it, do your own rankings and put your own ass on the line in public. I seriously don't get it. You want to disagree fine, but a lot of those ranking can/would be backed up with rational arguements, if the writer were provided that venue. In this case, it's a top fifty list with not much room to explain it.
