dynastybaby 0 Posted August 1, 2006 Tiki says "If the right thing came along, I would retire after this year." the last Stud RB I remember talking about retirement during camp was last year & his name was Padre Holmes.... I want nothing to do with a RB who is looking towards retiring next year. Beware buyers!!! Tiki will have a down year & this I promise.... = Tiki next year..... rocket1012 0 Posted August 1, 2006 My thoughts exactly. When a RB of Tiki's caliber talks about possible retirement instead of the upcoming season,it's hard to imagine him having a "banner"year. Too bad,..since most people have him "penned in"at #5 or 6 in this years drafts. This has to have many "downgrading" their expectations of him....myself included, and I considered him to be at least the 4th best back available...
swirvenirvin 25 Posted August 1, 2006 I thought it was Jerome Bettis and he won a superbowl. Gimmie a break, "or you may get burned".... you may get burned from anyone you draft

FFBGuy 0 Posted August 1, 2006 I see one more good year out of Tiki (especially if he retires next year! ). He is at the age when RBs do tend to fall off the earth as injuries become more frequent and serious (Marshall Faulk, Priest Holmes anyone?). But I still expect strong numbers. The Giant do face a tough schedule this year so how about 1,300 yards rushing, 400 receiving, and 7-8 TDs?
xxx 0 Posted August 1, 2006 . The Giant do face a tough schedule this year so how about 1,300 yards rushing, 400 receiving, and 7-8 TDs? No reason why he cant attain these numbers. Its not like his production has been slipping every year like faulks had. He had a career year last year. I believe his retiremnt talk has more to do with his other interests and business ventures as opposed to his ability to play.
edjr 7,097 Posted August 1, 2006 I stayed away from Tiki every year and he's burned me Every focking year I make an excuse to not draft Tiki. I have never had him in his entire career and every focking year I regret it. I have the 9th pick and have no chance at him this year.

Gimmie a break, "or you may get burned".... you may get burned from anyone you draft And I guess you took Jerome as a 1st round pick last year??? LOL! Not saying that the guy won't play, just saying he wont finish as high as ranked. He has had a $hit load of work the past few years & you only need to look at guys like Faulk, Holmes hell Thurman Thomas for that matter as to what happens to these type of backs once they hit 30. Remember Curtis Martin 2 years ago??? Coming off a huge year @ 30. Not saying that Tiki will fall that far, but he will not be top 10 when the year is out. RamslovaMartzhata 3 Posted August 1, 2006 Somewhere I read that he thinks they have a good chance to take it all this year. He is just saying that if they do, he may consider retiring.
xenophobe 1 Posted August 1, 2006 Tiki says "If the right thing came along, I would retire after this year." the last Stud RB I remember talking about retirement during camp was last year & his name was Padre Holmes.... I want nothing to do with a RB who is looking towards retiring next year. Beware buyers!!! Tiki will have a down year & this I promise.... = Tiki next year..... Honestly, this remark shows absolutly no knowledge of the player. Tiki is hands down one of the hardest workers in the game. There is absolutly nothing to suggest he is focused on retirement -he's been busting his ass off as he always does. His whole point is he doesn't want to play as one of those guys on the down swing and wants to go out on top. If anything, it would suggest he's going to be balls out this year. Anyone who knew anything about the player would know this. The biggest concern for Tiki is Jacobs.
D'ohmer Simpson 0 Posted August 1, 2006 So, Tiki's gonna be taking it easy this season. Further validates Manning "stepping down" a notch.
Fumbleweed 555 Posted August 1, 2006 If Curtis Martin can be the rushing champ at 31 years old, Tiki can do the same thing. They're both tireless workers.....and Barber has less mileage at this stage than Martin did. He was rested a lot early in his career....and he still has a breakaway gear. I'll take Tiki if everyone is scared of him. A keeper league I might stay away.
Polamalu43 0 Posted August 1, 2006 To all the nay sayers: Your league thanks you for not liking Tiki enough to take him when he should go. Someone drafting below you is now better off for this lapse in judgement. Even if his total yard production this year slips by 400-500 yards, he still puts himself around top 5 RB in a redraft league.
