IndyFan 2 Posted September 12, 2006 How about trading that 1st or a second to Oakland for Porter ????? Solves problems for both teams and doesn't cost NE the farm to become offensively competitive again. The organization owes that much to Tom Brady.
manola 0 Posted September 12, 2006 Porter sucks and I know I wouldn't want him on my team.

I'd do it if you said "How about trading that 1st or a second to Oakland for Moss????" now that would be scary!!
Patriotsfatboy1 1,433 Posted September 12, 2006 I think that the Pats have already traded for an Oakland WR that they would like to have in the lineup. Put Gabriel and/or Jackson in the lineup and you have a different team than what they have now. Next year's receiver crop is supposed to be pretty good which will allow them to make another improvement since they have two first rounders. While Porter has great physical skills, I think that the Pats already have a WR with great skills who underachieves on their roster (Caldwell) I have seen some reports that the cap hit for trading Porter is (only) $4M, but I have not seen whether the Raiders can take on that hit (although I bet they can). Texansfan 0 Posted September 12, 2006 How about starting Doug Gabriel... the receiver they just GOT in a trade and who is better than Porter. Adjustment period my ass... it sure did take Donte Stallworth a long time to adjust... How hard can it be, this route you run this way, that route you run that way... it's not rocket science.... gpann101 32 Posted September 12, 2006 I have to laugh at posts about...."what will NE do with the wr's?" What did they do the first year they won the superbowl? Short pass game! Watson & Grahmn also Dillon & Marooney carring the rock...they will be fine.

New England receivers are expected to read the defense and modify their routes accordingly. It takes time to learn.
swestfall 0 Posted September 12, 2006 Here's an idea. Rogers and Boston are available and if either one is signed, or both it could have a huge impact. Good or bad but my guess is that both of these two have come from losing programs and would buy into whatever the Pats are selling. Just my 2cents but I believe one of those two would be a major upgrade to what they have now.

That's just what they need, cancer in the locker room. Anyone who laughs and pumps his arms as his QB gets sacked for the nth time just because he's on the outs with his team does not deserve to play in the NFL. Even the Pats aren't that desperate. Patriotsfatboy1 1,433 Posted September 12, 2006 I bet that the Pats re-sign Jonathan Smith and drop Childress. That would signify that either Jackson or Gabriel is ready to assume the outside receiver role.

I seriously doubt the coaching staff is wringing their collective hands. "Whadda we do? Whadda we do?" They'll roll with what they've got... and if the offense starts to suffer, they'll deal with it. Just my opinion.

They won't give up a first rounder for Porter because he's not worth that much.
