Anyone who has seen Layer Cake knows that Daniel Craig is going to be a great Bond.

 

This will be the first Bond movie I see in the theater.

Having a really hard time with the Blonde Bond. Not to mention the fact that the reason Bond was so cool was that he was a little bit older, more sophisiticated. The pics of this guy walking out of the ocean like some High School surfing champ don't help either.

 

I'll wait til video on this one. Agreed on the George Lazenby comparison.

They couldn't get the rights released before. Apparently, this movie really puts much less emphasis on gadgets. I think it'll rock personally.

what are you talking about....bond has always been a sex symbol....apparently you havent see any vintage bond....there are plenty of bond moves where he is on the beach in a bathing suit....

They are. It's a bit of needless pandering to the lower brain celled folk, but whatever.

 

Overall, I cannot wait to see this. From everything I've read, Craig hasn't received a poor review yet. Anyone that knows anything about Bond knows that Casino Royale was Bond's first 00 assignment so it's fitting that Craig looks younger and buffer than, say, Roger Moore's tubby ass. Eva Green has gotten a bunch of good press as well. IMO, she did well in Kingdom of Heaven and she's looking smoking hot in all the trailers and previews.

 

I'm just glad they are going more traditional with Bond's character finally. They finally realized that the public was getting very tired of the same old Bond crap. Ian Fleming's Bond is a single-minded, angry, no nonsense dude that would shoot you just as easily as look at you. He isn't the jovial swashbuckler that the recent movies have portrayed.

Why don't we go back to the origins of the Bond franchise and make him darker! more gothic! more appealing to the twenty-something generation! Let's (pretend we're going to -- otherwise how do you explain Judi Dench as M) go back to how Bond became 007!!! Get rid of the gadgets!!! Make a movie true to the original novel, where Le Chiffre tortured Bond, only to get whacked by a SMERSH agent!"

So it begs the question, what would you do if you were making this movie? Lots of flying boats blowing up?

 

Personally, i'll give Graig a chance...the trailers are 'so far so good' IMO. I like the idea of losing all the techno crap and getting back to Bond roots, and i'm a far cry from 20 something.
