Louisville vs Rutgers

Recommended Posts

Scarlet Knight here, but trying my best to keep the homer glasses off. That said, Rutgers does the things that win games. They run the ball extremely well, defend well, and excel in the kicking game, They have multiple playmakers on offense (Rice, Leonard, the TE whose name escapes me right now). They're at home.

Louisville is nothing spectacular. They beat a West Va team that did everything wrong, lost their best player to injury for half the game, and is nowhere near as good defensively as last year's squad. They never stopped the Mountaineer rushing game; it stopped itself with turnovers. I wouldn't expect Rutgers to do the same; they're among the nation's leaders in turnover margin. Their biggest weakness is inexperience at QB and inconsistency at WR. They'll have to control the ball with their running game and pass opportunistically.

I'm realistic enough to know that RU isn't in the same class as Ohio St, Michigan, etc, and a win won't vault them into national title contention. They'll be favored to lose at West Virginia later in the year. But they're a good, solid football team. They rank among the country's top teams in defense (run, pass, scoring, total). I don't believe their record is a by-product of luck or scheduling. They have great team speed, tons of confidence, and are well coached.

Louisville did a good job taking advantage of home field and good fortune last week. Don't be surprised if Rutgers isn't able to do the same thing tomorrow night.

Great point....a win will, however, knock Louisville out of contention which will make for a much more believable national championship....Go Knights!!

Should be a lot of points scored. Both offenses should be able to move the ball all night. I hope Rutgers wins because I don’t want any Big East team getting considered for the BCS Championship. So take care of Louisville tonight.

hmmm.

On one hand, I am a Texas fan and need Louisville to lose.

On the other hand, Louisville going undefeated, then being beaten by 55 points on the title game might be good for my wish of chaos, in hopes of the eventual playoff system.

ehhh...I guess I'll root for Rutgers are those returns are much more immediate.

I work on the Rutgers campus and this place is electric today. The team will feed off this energy and rise to victory. It will be tough but they pull it out.

As a Jersey resident with many friends at Rutgers, I am definately rooting for them. IMO, they have really no chance to stop the Louisville offense. They need to control the clock with the run, and they will need a big play or two from Defense or Special Teams. If they can win the turnover battle and run effectively, I think we'll see a Rutgers win.

I can't wait to see this game. I am looking for RU to pull the upset. Either way this is a HUGE game for RU.

i'm not sure who to root for, but it's good to see rutgers actually producing this year.

I'm glad to see Rutgers doing so well, for a long time they were the laughing stock of D-1 college football. Now, they are talented team with some pretty nasty individual players. The students really seem to have embraced their team and the coach seems to have done an amazing job turning around that program. I'm sure he'll be a star before his career is over.
