iceblumist610 0 Posted November 18, 2006 I'm tired of betting, in other words, tired of losing. I wish everyone luck and hope you get some serious wins. I give up. I'm with you on that one. 2 games below .500 on the season. I'm gonna finish it out and see if I can salvage something though. I have winning weeks more often than not, it's just that my winning weeks are good (65%) and my losing weeks are awful (10%)
needmoremoney 0 Posted November 18, 2006 needmo, are you really up on UConn, on the road? I need Dr. Bob - my idol, me betting budah My plays are on page 4. I know that 61% public is on syracuse at home and the line moved from Syrcause -1.5 to PK on my site. Usually, I would put on more, but i'll stick with a 2 unit play for now. There wont be too much defense in this game in my opinion, so I'll go with the team who will control the clock more, which i believe will be the stronger run team. phillybear 366 Posted November 18, 2006 Hey philly, you have San Diego St. as a 1 unit play but you said earlier that you really liked 'em. Is this a TBA upgrade closer to game time? To be determined, but I think it will probably be a 2 unit game.
phillybear 366 Posted November 18, 2006 What I wanted to ask Philly before bed was...how can you be on Purdue AND Idaho? Indiana and Idaho seem like they're in the exact same situation. Schools named for states that begin with "I." Both opened as 10 point underdogs. Both got killed last week against very good teams. Both are playing opponents that are coming off a win over a bad team where the other team lost it (turnovers) more than they won it. Doesn't really matter, as I'm on both the "I" schools already, but Purdue seemed like an interesting choice. Maybe it had something to do with DocBob being on them. Purdue has beaten up on the bad teams in the Big 10, and not fared so well against the good teams. Indiana is a bad team with a leaky pass defense that has possibly quit on the year. Fresno St hasn't covered a game yet this year, I knew they were bad ATS, but I was surprised that it was 0-9. Heck, with two wins, Idaho is bowl eligible. I'm not sure that Idaho isn't the better team, but they are making strides forward this year, and seem to be playing better than lethargic Fresno. Idaho coming off 3 games vs very good team stepping down in class.

GiantsRule 0 Posted November 18, 2006 Early TD by Wisconsin. Took less than a minute but I need 43 points so they're going to have to pick up the pace. (I'm obviously kidding) Am concerned about the Baylor portion of my parlay (team Over 15.5). Baylor can put up points but OK's defense is ridiculous.
VaTerp 0 Posted November 18, 2006 haha big hit = fumble = BC TD Yeah, turnovers are what will kill MD and me today. Added to my plays for today. MD- moneyline +280 UNC- moneyline +135 UConn- moneyline +120 Why I do the things I do . . ..
GiantsRule 0 Posted November 18, 2006 This could be the most degenerate bet I've ever considered: Div I-AA - Savannah State +51 (vs. Cal Poly) (can also get Sav. State +52 at -115 at another out) Yes, that's the real line. Sav. State has only lost one game by more than 51 points. Cal Poly has only beaten one team by 40 or more, let alone 50. Hurricane Ditka once told me "it's not the importance of the games you take. It's finding those hidden gems that few others care about. I'm thinking of pulling the trigger, but the last time I took a game like this was Valparaiso +45 against San Diego and Val didn't even come close!

GiantsRule 0 Posted November 18, 2006 3 stars: Purdue and Army 2 stars: Wake Forest, Oregon, Boston College, La Tech philly: What do you think about the game I posted above? Besides it being stupid to take a "high school-plus" team. Since everyone (including freakin' Dr. Bob) likes Army today, I'm jumping on the bandwagon: Army +30.5 Hard to resist when most books have +29 and I get a free half point from Skybook. Good luck to all, and please let me know if you have feedback about my Div I-AA play (which I haven't placed yet)
phillybear 366 Posted November 18, 2006 philly: What do you think about the game I posted above? Besides it being stupid to take a "high school-plus" team. I honestly don't know a thing about either team. But do you remember how maybe two years ago, I posted a writeup on the Div-II football championship game, and that I knew someone that was playing in that game, and that we should bet the dog. You followed. And that dog won outright. Whoo, Hooo!!!! Winnah, winnah, chicken dinnah.

When I have "who's the bigger degenerate" discussions, the fact I played (and watched) a Div-II NCAA game usually makes me the easy winner. You bet on almost anything if given the opportunity: Would you take 51 points based on the stats I provided, regardless of who the teams were?

Based on the stats, I would wonder why the line would be so fricking high then. The linesmaker is trying to tell you something. I would be suspicious, and probably pass. But good luck with whatever you do.

Only thing I hate about taking games from obscure teams like this is it's difficult to track the progress. There's no real-time stats and when it gets updated every 10 minutes or so, it's almost always against me (ala checking SD-Val scores a few months back.) GiantsRule 0 Posted November 18, 2006 Adding 2H Purdue -4, 2H Oklahoma -10, 2H Oklahoma u23 all for 1 unit. Followed you on Purdue, but it was a big mistake. Purdue is awful. Gave up a quick touchdown and turned it over in their own territory and Indy driving again. Motherfvckers! Seems like Purdue got the ball back. But they better do something with this. And they did...and in two plays, Indy's ready to score again. JESUS!

Yeah, it's a push with plenty of time and against a team moving the ball with ease. Need another Purdue TD just to feel comfortable with the idea of a push (which you should realize that if Purdue goes up by 11 and Indy scores, they go for and make the 2 point conversion which makes the bet a loss!) I really like Rutgers tonight. I was only really confident in 3 games today, Mich St, Auburn, and Rutgers. This is one of their last real hurdles and they really wanna go undefeated to prove they belong. Think they'll win by a TD.

And should have realized when my scoring updates were lagging, that it was yet another fvcking turnover. Purdue has entered my short list of teams I will never bet on again. Indy at 1st and goal at the two! I won't call it a TD, but you can only luck out like we did a few plays ago once. There's the touchdown. Knew it was coming, just a few plays late. 9 minutes and Sh!tdue nursing a 2-point lead. Guaranteed we only see a meaningless FG. If that happens, I hope Indy pulls the upset straight up. Regardless of what happens here, what do you think of the 2H over in the Texas Tech-OK State game? Low scoring first half; could end up like what we saw in the Purdue game. I'll take it if you do. GiantsRule 0 Posted November 18, 2006 Wow, was everyone here on Purdue? Seemed like everyone at Covers was on IU. No just me and "needmoremoney." Just seemed like a lot of people because of my incessant b!tching! Took a small parlay for kicks & giggles: 1H Michigan ML (+180) OK St-Texas Tech Over 31 (-125) Pays about 4:1 odds. GiantsRule 0 Posted November 18, 2006 Anybody else looking to buy back the Army bet at halftime? They couldn't stop an army of turtles let alone Notre Dame! Unfvcking real! Had a shot to run off a long kick return and he bumped into his own guy. Three Stooges Football at its finest! Another reminder the books are smarter than we are: Game closed around Army +30.5. Halftime score: 20-3 ND. Halftime line? ND -13.5 (natural hedge; no shot at a middle) I took it at -115 odds before it got pounded. Like I said, Army looked great at the start and then gave up after the first quarter. Good luck to anyone staying put on our nation's finest!

iceblumist610 0 Posted November 18, 2006 Well, Dr. Bob isn't having much of a day. I remember the picks that he made that I was thinking about. I went with Army, which will almost certainly lose. I went against him on Indiana. Purdue didn't cover. I thought about going with him on Oregon, but then thought better of it. Arizona is covering handily at the moment. cyclone24 1,913 Posted November 18, 2006 Jesus....this is why im done putting coin on games. Iowa State who has looked like dog crap all year...gets 170 yards rushing out the FULLBACK!!! And instead of Mizzou covering by 13....they are getting their azzes handed to them. Doesnt seem to matter who i put money on...or how big a mismatch it is.....they never cover.
