All cbssportsline users can quickly help me...

Recommended Posts

I am in the middle of a league dispute which is way to long to explain here, but I was hoping some of you that use sportsline as well could check something for me. Look under the “League Home” tab, then under “Rules” do you see in the middle of the page on the right side the gray box where it says “Roster Limits”. I need to know if on the bottom of this box do you see the phrase “Illegal rosters score zero points in standings”?

Thanks - RedZone

NO, nothing there other the chart explaining roster limits.

That's a tough situation if I cna guess som d-head didn't enter a lineup correctly and got a ZERO.

One solution is to revert back to his lineup from last week.

(no changes for him, it is what it is)

Mine does, because as commish I set up our league that way. Whether illegal rosters score zero points is a setting the commish makles when setting up the league, so chances are not all leagues use that particular rule.

Yep it is there.

Although we also have it the constitution of the league: "Teams with roster violations at the time of the first NFL game of the week will be subject to receiving 0 points for the week"

Mine does. It's been that way in my league for years. If you have an illegal lineup, you get 0 points for the week. :wall:

The box is there but you have to check it. No one except for the commish can see this though so if this is a rule it should be in the constitution.

I'm the commish of a cbs sportsline league and there is a box I could select that says "Illegal rosters score zero points in standings" I choose not to check it, because the only way a team could have more than the limit, is if I let through a trade that makes the rosters illegal. I just send them a message telling them they are over the limit and to please drop however many players they need to get to the limit.

I think his problem is an owner entered an illigal LINEUP, too many or too few starters at one particular position.

I "think" by not checking the box, players can still score, except for those that are too many or too few.

Not checking just penalizes the idiot, not ruining his FF season.

Many years, and never came across this with an owner.

Oh wow. I didn't even know that was allowed. Since 2001 I've been using CBS and it's never happend. I always wonder why someone wouldn't allow others to set their lineups. Thanks.

I love it when douchebags gives a zero to a team who may have accidentally not started enough players in a given week.

It's also another in a laundry list of reasons why Sportsline blows.

Yeah. I once got caught with only 3 RB's and 2 on a bye. (I knew it was going to happen but decided to bite the bullet due to the small rosters we had)

I just started my one RB playing.

People complained that I should have had to forfeit (I won huge).

It was lame....It was cool had I started a RB on a bye, but not cool that I left the spot empty supposedly.

eventually I won the debate.

It's a commish setting. It's there in my CBS league, but only because we as a league voted that in this year due to a minor contraversy last year when a team owner spaced it and left in a player on a BYE and a hurt player and essentially handed a team a free win.

Now we do the following:

Commish retroactively puts in the worst active player in his lineup to "fix" his roster

Team manager is fined $10 for every illegal player the 1st time, $20 per player the 2nd.

This way no one gets a free win and there's serious incentive to field a legal roster.

Not surprisingly, no one's focked up this year.

yes it's there.

but this should only be an issue if somehow the guy started one too many at a particular position. If he was able to win shorthanded (say, playing a guy who was out with injury before the game started) then that's not a reason to give the guy a zero.

And you get people who couldn't care less about starting a meaningful roster to pay you exorbidant fines for same?

Strange...

It's a local league and we're all tight. People do care about starting a meaningful roster - when it happened the dude just focked up and spaced it. This provides incentive to not fock up.

Well, to each his own, but know this, if I don’t care about starting a lineup, good luck getting “fine money” out of me for not giving a rat’s ass.

My incentive is… if you think that you don’t care enough to start a meaningful roster through the end of the season, I will lock you out of the league without a refund and give your team to any number of friends of mine to run through the end of the season.

Now THAT’S incentive because I already have their money. And yes… we’re all pretty tight, too. However, I’ve had to do it two times in 10-years… and one of those guys was my brother. :(

This happened to me this week,I posted it sunday.I ended up playing short handed and got 0 points.I had contacted the commish and explained how it happened ,he basically told me to bad get over it.I understand about the rule but I played short handed i didnt have too many qbs ect.Totally bull ###### if you ask me .I need to win the last 2 games just to have a chance at a playoff spot. Our commish is a ass , someone asked for playoff schedual and he was to lazy to post it ,he said look at your email at the beginning of the year!Basically I called him a focking ass hole for that comment. I play for the enjoyment of ball breaking and to give another purpose to football.I dont need the 1st plase money .It will make it that much sweeter to win a shove it in his face. Then ill donate the winnings to a childrens hospital!

My understanding of it is that you cant have more than 14 on a team. If you do, you have an illeagal roster and score zero for the week. It also says you can start a max of 8 each week, which tells me a guy can play just one person if he wishes and not get penalized.

Just curious. How is it not your fault that you had an illegal lineup?

I didnt say it wasnt my fault ,I just think its a bull ###### rule.Who does it hurt if Im one guy short?Plus the commish is on a power trip. Its not about money or anything else it s just crazy for cbs to have illeagal lineups! I love playing fantasy for the trading ,ball busting, and bragging rights.I actually need 1 win in the next two weeks to make the playoffs .So my beef was with the rule and cbs not the actual loss!

it doesnt hurt if you're one guy short, I have no problem with that.

The key is it's an "illegal lineup" by CBS. :dunno:

Why is your commish on a "power trip" because he is enforcing your league rules -- especially in a money league?

I can't fathom any reason you should be penalized for having LESS starting players in your lineup.

Great...so change the rule. Owners who whine because their commish enforces the rules are d!cks.
