RoadLizard 73 Posted November 24, 2006 They are doing TERRIBLE! Heres why: Because the NFL is the 500 pound behemoth monster, they are trying to rob cablevision and Time Warner customers by asking for focking billions of dollars to carry their precious network. Thats all fine and everything though. My beef is the fact that the NFL will NOT sell to Time Warner unless Time Warner puts the channel in its most BASIC cable package. So, everyone has to pay for football even if they dont watch it. Ya know, suppose they tried that with a Soccer channel or something...there would be riots in the street! Bottom line, Time Warner and Cablevision want to put the NFL on a premium pay-tier which makes total sense, but the NFL wont have it and its all because the NFL can charge more for advertising if its a regular cable channel. Do they REALLY need more money??? Are you focking kidding me. Ah well, I was watching the game at a friends place and the coverage is horrible and Bryant Gumball is a focking lame dooshbag to top it off. They have total retreads in the pre-game show. Oh well.... So FOCK YOU NFL.... props to Time Warner and Cablevision for telling you to stick it with yer 8 mostly crappy Thursday Night games. Who cares, I'll just watch the stats ticker on NFL.com which is more exciting anyways.

Bronco Fan Trapped in NE 0 Posted November 24, 2006 Gumble is plain awful. Can we keep a running tally of all of his mess ups? Here are a couple that I remember: 1. Said Tatum Bell was out with a "thigh" injury. Idiot. It is his toes. 2. Didn't know that it was first down at the 1. 3. Didn't know it was a touch back. 4. One 1st and Ten, said he fought for the first down...after saying that somebody missed the first down on the earlier play when that person made it very easily before hand. I know there are more... On a Johnson run, saying he might have gotten the first down... when Johnson clearly ran out of bounds 3 yards short.
IGotWorms 4,060 Posted November 24, 2006 I feel like Gumble is announcing like its an NBA game. Cutting off your sentences abruptly can work great for a basketball game, but in an NFL game it just makes you sound like you have no focking clue what is going on. Skeets 0 Posted November 24, 2006 Hmm... Gumble said it was 1st and 10 when it was 2nd and 10... Later he said it was third and 10 when it was third and six... He also said it was 10-0 when it was 10-3... Then he said "We'll see a heavy dose of Larry Johnson" at least six times that I counted. Gumble sux.
Vince44 205 Posted November 24, 2006 NFL network is a great station, it all works for me but Bryant Gumble was very out of place doing play by play and his voice just doesn't click with the fast paced hard hitting action he is calling, he would be perfect for Golf. The total access show, then gameday on Sunday's, and of course NFL Replay on Tues/Wed makeup for a bad choice as the play by play man for your network's live action. I fully except Marshall Faulk to move into the booth next year, if not on NFL network then he will land with CBS/Fox
A Dido Brother 0 Posted November 24, 2006 Gumble likes to say "stacked up" a lot. It got to the point where I was tempted to turn it into a drinking game. I want Marshall Faulk in the booth. He's the best guy the NFL-N has right now. I don't know how he'd do as a play by play guy, but he can't be worse than Gumble.
Black59Razor 0 Posted November 24, 2006 Gumbel's voice was annoying. I said in another post that the whole "Debatable" update was enough for me last night. That felt like I was watching the evening news. And the Tatum Bell thigh injury was unbelievably bad. I usually do not like Collingsworth but he should have taken over because he was more tolerable. I think Gumbel is out of touch. There is no need for an uptight, arrogant, egotistical snob to do play by play for such a violent game. I believe Gumbel views them as savages, who are beneath him anyway. Just look at the show he is on HBO. He seems almost irritated at times that he has to comment on issues that he has no idea about or relationship with. Making comments that have demeaning inferences in them about someone. I did however see him this morning on some sort of after game commentary, thanking Collingsworth for picking up the slack for him being a rookie and dealing with his rookie mistakes. It took a lot for him to say it, you can see it in the way he paused before he said it, but he knew he sucked. I didn't know what it felt like looking at that game but after reading the "High School" statement, I definitely agree.
