wiffleball 4,790 Posted January 30, 2007 The Police are going to reunite for the Grammy's. Talk is, this is the precursor to a reunion tour. I'm not a big concert guy anymore, but I will definitely try to see this concert if it comes to H-town.
kutulu 1,676 Posted January 30, 2007 Sting is a huge sellout.
wiffleball 4,790 Posted January 30, 2007 Sting is a huge tool. Fixored. But, with The Police he was part of possibly one of the best, most consistent & talented bands ever. Every member of that group is an accomplished artist on his own. Together, they were pure genius.
GobbleDog 996 Posted January 30, 2007 Sting is the Police. Who gives a crap which loser is playing the bass and drums behind him? As long as Sting is singing the song, any musician will do. Ooooooh, it's the original drummer! Now we're in for a treat!

GobbleDog 996 Posted January 30, 2007 Ok, what am missing? What's so great about the Police's musicians? It's not like we're talking about Eddie Van Halen or Pink Floyd's David Gilmour, etc... it's the Police who apparently were so incredibly talented, they all went in the tank after Sting left. You really should do some research before you speak. Just b/c Sting went the sellout route doesn't negate the skill and talent of the Stewart Copeland and Andy Summers. - Both of whom are successful (if not pop stars) in their own right. I shoot from the hip. It's hit or miss, but I'm willing to take that risk. Apparently, I missed this time.

Andy Summers is one of the most gifted guitarists on the planet. His work with Robert Fripp is some of the most sophisticated rock ever produced. His legacy of work goes all the way back to the Soft Machine in the late '60s, and includes work the Animals, Bowie, Deborah Harry and many others. While Sting may "be" the Police for the ill-informed, Summers' playing is the sonic basis for what the band really was. FWIW, the Police last reunited just 3 years ago for their induction into the R&R Hall of Fame.
