Auto Workers: Did you ever notice?

Recommended Posts

Why is it that almost everytime there is a news story about an upcoming automotive assembly plant closing, when the news crews arrive, inevitably the employees leaving the plant look like they are headed home to their trailers and theis NASCAR races?

Between the foo-manchu moustaches, the Union Jack Bandanas, and the endless supply of tats....they do not present an attractive bunch. You guys are fighting for public perception as well you know. Many Americans don't want to buy cars rom people who look like that. Just a thought.

IN GENERAL.

I am sure there are exceptions.

Well, I would certainly rather buy a car from a company that is employing people not laying them off, regardless of how they look.

By the way, does this shallow train of thought factor into most of your purchasing? :dunno:

Yep. I can't believe more doctors and millionaires don't want to quit and work for 8 hours a day, in terrible conditions, doing sh*t work for low pay.

My question is: How do they find the time to take those law school classes?

That must be what they have planned for the future. These people are getting laid off so they can pay quadruple the salary to one good looking actor/model/doctor from ER. I think I saw that in a business plan. Should increase sales.

I watched some of the Daytona 500 yesterday and at the beginning they said that Toyota actually employs more Americans than the other American cars in the race which are mostly made in Canada and Mexico. I thought that was pretty interesting.

What country are the jaguars manufactured?

Right now they are manufactured in 2 plants in UK.

1. Brownes Lane

2. Castle Broomwich

I know its owned by Ford, and they plan to reopen another plant in UK, Halewood.

I didn't realize $20-$30/hr plus overtime was 'sh!t' pay. Thanks for clearing that up.

Right, I know automotive workers who only have a high school diploma and are making $30 + an hour and then with their overtime are clearing $100,000 a year. Doesn't seem right when I'm an engineer with an engineering degree and the line operators make more than me.
