Tarheel Boy 0 Posted February 21, 2007 I can't believe the Spartans fans are rushing the court. I know they just beat a very good team, but this isn't like Wisconsin is their arch rival or the Spartans haven't won a national title lately. Just seems kinda strange. About as strange as the Carolina fans storming the court after they beat Wake Forest in Doherty's first year as coach.

Also, these kids in the stands weren't university students when MSU won the championship.

I dunno, I guess I never have understood the rushing of the court thing. I can understand it when the lower teams in the conference knock off the top dogs when they're highly ranked. Oh, I agree that the Badgers fans should definitely take it as a sign of respect. To see other teams fans storm the court after an upset does mean something. About as strange as the Carolina fans storming the court after they beat Wake Forest in Doherty's first year as coach. They beat a #1 team and have been 0-16 vs #1 ranked teams. Back when I was there in 97-98-99 we rushed the court all the time for a lot of big wins. That was the beginning of the good Izzo era, then it wasnt done so much cause they were good, and students got use to it. That is probably the first time some seniors rushed the court during the 4 years they have been there. There has not been a lot of meaningful wins at home the past few years why not. This was a HUGE win

Sho Nuff 720 Posted February 21, 2007 Or any less deserved.... Yes...see the ESPN poll where the #1 team was beaten by the two teams ranked directly beneath them.
kpbuckeye 2 Posted February 21, 2007 Yes...see the ESPN poll where the #1 team was beaten by the two teams ranked directly beneath them. Its official then. Teams can not get better or worse as the season progresses. we will have a pre-season poll and stick to that the whole year no matter what happens.

Teams can not get better or worse as the season progresses. we will have a pre-season poll and stick to that the whole year no matter what happens. Sure...teams can improve. But if you take all things into consideration...and have a team that had 1 more loss than another team...and that other team also beat the team head to head...still going to rank them ahead? and then another team...that waxed said #1 team...and has the same number of losses?
