The Beltway pundit class is totally out of touch with ordinary Americans. For just a few examples, it's "conventional wisdom" on cable news that 1) Democrats pushing for a withdrawl from Iraq are going to hurt their credibility with the public; 2) Americans do not want investigations of the US attorney firings; 3) Pelosi's trip to Syria revealed her as unserious and hurt the Democratic party. Public opinion polls show that all three of these premises are wrong, but talking heads on TV repeat them ad nauseum.
