*** '07 Player Projections By NFL Team ***

Recommended Posts

To prepare FFTodayers for the upcoming ’07 season, starting 5/14 will post threads listing offensive players by NFL team and invite posters to attach projections to each offensive player.

Posting of just commentary on one or mutliple players, instead of projections is welcomed and encouraged as well.

Will post 3 team threads per week (2 during 4th of July week) alphabetically by team city, so will have all 32 NFL teams posted before August 1st.

Through beginning of FF season will hopefully have this thread pinned as an ‘Archives’ thread, so will have opportunity to post replies for any previous team at any time.

Notes:

RB WMcGahee: 4th season, 1st as a Raven

WR DWilliams: 2nd year

WR MClayton: 3rd year

WR DMason: Will be 11th season (32 years old)

TE THeap: ’06 led team in recs and rec TDs

Bonus: Homer Notes! (courtesy of Ray Lewis Limo Driver)

An important note for the Ravens is the loss of Edwin Mulitalo, Tony

Pashos, and Ovie Mughelli. Last year the running game was merely

adequate. With Ogden skills diminished and likely in his last season

coupled with the loss of such considerable blocking talent, one must be

VERY concerned about QB protection and the ability of the running game

to provide tangible FF value.

Key Questions For '07 Season:

How will WMcGahee produce as a Raven?

How much does DMason have left?

Can DWilliams step up in 2nd year?

Will this be the magic '3rd year' for MClayton?

How much does SMcnair have left, considering age/injury history?

Could TSmith earn significant playing time/take over as starter b/c of SMcnair age/injury/performance?

I think that people are reluctant to chime in on the Ravens at this point, because of the things that RLLD brought up to NAn. These are not small things. Baltimore is built as a defense-driven, run-oriented team, that currently has question marks in the most key areas.

I don't think Steve McNair is a great fantasy option, and the receivers are summarily affected. Todd Heap is still Todd Heap, and is probably top 5 in TEs. Willis McGahee is the big question mark, as no one can really tell how he will do in that scheme. He shoud do better than Lewis, but he wasn't tremendous in Buffalo last year, and the Ravens' line is starting to slip. Results? I think McGahee has an average year, but will go much higher than he should in drafts, because people will draft him because of where he is, and the persona that surrounds that team.

jlewis actually posted a decent yr, 1100-9; however, 3 of those TDs came in 1 game. mcgahee posted a breakout 1100-13, then crashed to 1200-5 and 1000-5. can he be better in baltimore with o-line defections and aging studs? i didnt hear of any big named replacements for those linemen. on the other hand, if a pitter-pattering jlewis with whose style we ffers and fans in general were growing tired can post 1100-9, cant a more youthful and fresher mcgahee at least match those stats, if not exceed them?

i think he can hit 1200-9. mcnair should post 3200/17/12; heap 60/700/6; clayton 70/800/5

McGahee 1310 yds, 180 yds rec, 11 TDs

Clayton 80-1280-9

Williams 55-790-4

Mason 45-550-1

Heap 65-790-6

McNair 3450, 22 TDs, 13 Ints (probable injury or missed time will lower the numbers)

Just some initial projections here:

Steve McNair- 2,950 passing yards, 19 TDs, 14 INTs; 140 rushing yards, 1 TD (244 fantasy points)

Willis McGahee- 325 carries, 1,275 yards, 9 TDs; 150 yards receiving, 1 TD (203 fantasy points)

Mark Clayton- 79 receptions, 1,160 yards, 7 TDs; 70 yards rushing (165 fantasy points)

Derrick Mason- 56 receptions, 700 yards, 4 TDs (98 fantasy points)

Todd Heap- 71 receptions, 750 yards, 5 TDs (105 fantasy points)

I look for McGahee to get better production than Jamal Lewis did and for Mark Clayton to improve on last year's numbers while Mason declines. Heap is pretty stable and I don't think he and McNair's numbers either one will change much from last year.
