Foghorn Leghorn 0 Posted June 6, 2007 Mother of god, this has to be stopped. They need contract like 5 or 10 teams. Agreed. The talent pool is diluted enough as it is. They should go back to 21 teams, like it was in the 80's.

They should go back to 21 teams, like it was in the 80's. nashville had problems this year despite being the #1 seed in the west for a good part of the year. tampa won a cup...but... you just can't force this game down the throats of southerners. can't do it. and so what do you do? you overextend into bad markets and then force a salary cap down the throats of the everyone which causes a bitter strike...which still doesn't fix a goddam thing because you overextended markets in the first focking place. the salary cap is NOT going to save these teams in warm-weather locations where the citizens can take or leave hockey. these cities that woo small-market canadian teams south are like guys that pick up girls at the bar and then the next morning say "oh, shiat. that was stupid." bettman is a focking moron. Bettman was just chasing the big American $$$ TV contract, and felt the best way to do it was to get more American teams. Those expansions also provided the NHL with much needed infusions of cash. In retrospect, the expansions were decisions that were mistakes in the long-term. But I see the rationale that he may have had in mind at the time. Personally, I agree with you - there's an imaginary line running through the US where interest in hockey drops off dramatically. Why they prefer watching cars drive around in circles (or is it ellipses?), I'll never know.
buffalobillsffl2003 0 Posted June 7, 2007 Expansion isn't needed, just move a few teams. The Blackberry dude will probably put Nashville in southern Ontario.....maybe cause he'll get gripes mostly from Toronto and a few from Buffalo. Vegas doesn't need a hockey team. Might be time for a realignment. Find out which teams aren't going to succeed and make some changes. Another team or two in Canada wouldn't hurt. Balsillie will probably move Nashville to the Kitchener-Waterloo area. Put a team back in Winnipeg.
